Problem getting to nodes before they disappear

    I have just returned to Rift and am back leveling my harvesting since I was able to purchase the two other ones I wanted on my lvl 50 cleric. I already had butchering, Outfitter and Runecrafter to 300. I wanted to add the two missing harvesting options for foraging and mining to my skills. However, now that I finally broke 150 on those two harvesting skills, I am finding it very difficult to find nodes to hit. I see them on my mini map, but by the time I get there they are gone. Obviously someone got to them before I did. I like the way the fishing works where we all seem to be able to cast in the same spots and obtain fish. But this is not true for mining or foraging, which is a shame. I do not see what the problem would be to allow folks to harvest from the same nodes. I still dabble a bit in GW2 and all harvesting nodes are available for everyone if you want them. It did not seem to affect the prices on the Trading Post so I do not see how it can harm the economy in Rift. If someone can explain why we can fish in the same node but not mine or forage from the same nodes, I certainly would appreciate that. Why one and not the others?

    there was a time way back in the beginning when you harvested nodes, you had to do it 3x before the node disappeared.

    It was then changed to where you collect all that node would give in a single harvest due to complaints of having to harvest 3x or having people essentially steal 1 or 2 of those harvests.

    fishing is different because those nodes are like temporary buffs in where you either get better fish, your skill up % chance is increased, etc... but you can still fish fish out the water endlessly

    For mining and foraging you can also kill certain mobs and gain skill points that way. Earth elementals are great for skilling up mining. Treants are for foraging.​


    I know I skilled up mining around 100 to 150 by killing the elementals in stonefield.​

    I discovered the ability to mine and forage off creatures I kill just a few weeks ago. That is an improvement...which makes it more bearable that I miss the common mining ore and foraging plant nodes that only one person can access.

    I still think having all those nodes available to every one is a good idea...but I am only a patron player and not a dev so I have no idea what is the reasoning behind this.
