Anyone else tried doing pure archery? My most recent character only uses bows in battle (no other weapons or offensive magic.) As a result my archery skill became very overpowered quickly, which gave me the ability to easily focus on noncombat skills like smithing and alchemy.
I made one a long time ago before their was a legendary mode, but I found it to be to easy I was a stealth archer and even playing on master was not a challenge.
Yeah it does sort of feel a bit broken in a way, especially since I have all my gear enchanted with +Percent Bow Damage...
This is an interesting idea. I have never tried making such a character, and I usually don`t use bows at all in the game. This could work RP wise for a ranger type character who uses bows, can craft his own gear and knows a lot about plants (alchemy). I`ll have to try it out.
I don't think it is possible to play 100% archery. All enemies will attack close-range so you would always have to move back. I tried level archery in the beginning but I just use it as a starting damage.
Yeah I did this in one of my playthroughs. It gets almost stupidly easy though especially if you play stealthy.
It's pretty good, I usually level my alchemy a lot, and that synergizes pretty well with archery. And yeah, the enemies will attack close range, but I just stand there and hit them point blank with bows. It's pretty stupid
nah, I like the up close and personal battles, especially with great swords, hate bows, too impersonal...
Personally I like to use a shield in one hand and magic in the other it works really well once you get the more powerful spells, but at lower levels it can be a challenge, because you have to invest points in both magic, and stamina.
The first character I ever made in Skyrim was a pure archer. I always loved using the bow in Oblivion so I knew Skyrim would be no different. It was the first skill I fully maxed out.
After being a full melee, I tried doing a full archery, but I just got bored, I don't think the highest level bows and arrow are as varied as their melee and magic counterparts.
I did this with my first playthrough, made the game easy as all you have to do is plan wisely and choose targets. Stealth archer type of player will finish this game easy. But playing pure archery gets boring at times.
It's so hard! I don't know why, but I never like using 1 combat type over and over. I think I've combined Archery with Magic at a time. It was weird to never allow myself to have a melee weapon. I also don't know what a character with high magic and archery is called.
I always either use a pure Mage or pure archer. There's no point using swords and bows in my opinion as your character won't be great at either and get destroyed repeatedly.
I don't really build an archery only character but I do use a lot of archery skills thorough out the game. I think it would work best if you combine archery and sneaking. If you get to be a ninja in the game you can just hide in one corner and just shoot arrows at your opponent. You get extra damage for sneak attacks and you won't have to break a sweat.
