QTE fights with mutants

    Hi, I play Metro last Light on PC in the stalker mode (or whatever it is called, the one without any HUD). I have a problem with QTE monster fights when the monster leaps at me and I presume I am supposed to do something to defend myself. I think a few times when something like this happened I just pressed melee buttom and Artyom stabbed the mutant to death but now it stopped working now. I already had to walk around one part where a mutant leaps at me because I couldn't kill it. Now I am on the boat and see shrimps for the first time. One of them leaps at me and kills me and I can't do anything, pressing melee doesn't work. Can anyone help me? what am I supposed to do there? Having no HUD was OK so far but now it is aggravating as I don't know if it's me doing something wrong or if it's a bug in the game. I will appreciate any advice

    It's not melee,it's E key.
