After reading some of the threads on here, and reading some on the net, I am starting to get very interested in trying ESO when it comes out. As someone who has actually never played any Elder Scrolls games, is each game a completely stand alone experience, or would it behoove me to play a few of the older games before leaping into the newest game?

Each have their own storyline etc so you will be fine even if you don't play the older ones. However they are based in the same world and there are references to places and people you might have seen in older games.

I am surprised that you haven't played any of the ES games yet. You just have to play it to get a taste of the awesomeness. Start with Morrowind then Oblivion and then Skyrim.

It's fine if you don't play the older versions (even though you should... they are great). You should definitely start playing!
