Ranger Armor Helmet

    This is the helmet I refer to. My question is, does anyone know if this is based on an existing design in any way? I want to say it is since I noticed one of the classes in MOH:warfighter wears one that is very similar.

    I'm trying to get together a Ranger cosplay for a con coming up and i'm trying to find the best way to acquire/make this helmet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I believe it's based on the Czech M10M gas mask.

    wrong its a russsian spec ops helm with a cbrn piece the bottom part is the mask shaara linked but the rest is diffirent

    The whole helmet isn't based on the mask, you're right about that, but that doesn't make me "wrong" like you said. As we've stated, the helmet is partially based on the M10M gas mask, yes.

    I'm not saying this for sure, but those Spec Ops helmets doesn't look like the ranger helmet at all to me. I can't see how they look like each other. The Spec Ops helmets does, though, look a lot like the other type of helmets in Metro2033, like these:

    EDIT: I just noticed in the picture that Vadnais posted, there's a second ranger, and his helmet is definitely the Spec Ops helmet we're talking about. But I don't think that that's the helmet that Vadnais is referring to.

    Isn't this spec ops helmet we keep calling a K6-3? Because it looks an awful lot like one to me.

    yes but they have the riot visor not cbrn piece on them it is a spec ops helmet

    If you're not talking about the helmet the ranger is wearing then yeah but the ones in the pictures Skaara posted look like they were made in the Metro and so aren't proper K6-3. (I think there's similar ones to the K6-3 that the actual Russian military uses, can't remember the website I used to go on though.)


    I don't think the Ranger helmet they're talking about is based on any real life helmet to be honest, the visor like everyone has said looks remarkably similar to the M10 gas mask.
    It's more likely that they just built it up from scratch, other than the visor ofc. I can't find any helmet that's similar to the actual Ranger helmet, even without the the visor. I'll keep looking though.

    What? The visor doesn't look like it at all, dude. It's the "nose", amongst with the in-haling and out-haling systems. Like where they're placed on the mask and how big they are, as well as their shape and material.

    ^This. Skaara got it spot on, as I'm pretty sure that 4A Games looked at the M10 for inspiration when designing the ranger mask. The two main differences between them are the material (the ranger one has an M10 style gas mask built-into a metallic helmet) and the visor (the ranger helmet has one visor, whilst the M10 itself irl has two separate eye windows).

    OK I wrote my comment out wrong, when I said visor I meant the whole bit that covers the face not just the eyes... I should have said face shield or something along those lines.

    After Polis cutscene, Artyom wears the Ranger Helmet. But what I don't understand is when you get to the surface right after the cutscene you cannot breath and you have to put on a gas mask. But the Ranger Helmet has a gas mask built into it. You can also take your gas mask on and off, does this mean you are removing the helmet or is it an overlooked detail?

    I can see why you picked the GP-7 / PMK since its eyepieces and voice diaphragm are identical in shape & size to the M10. Yeah, you're right, they probably just looked at various types of gas masks for inspiration. However, I still think the ranger mask resembles the M10 the most.

    I have thought about this too while playing Metro2033. Artyom is definitely not using the gas mask that you are using all the way through the whole game. I'm pretty sure it's an overlooked detail indeed. A detail which kind of annoyed me and broke the immersion a little.
