Resource packs, do you use them and what makes them good for you?

My favorite resource pack is Soartex Fanver, what really gets me into this resource pack is the textures for the bricks, wood planks, and chests. Soartex Fanver has incredible support for mods with it's patcher application that detects what mods you have installed and installs the textures for them, if available. There are a lot of people involved with Soartex and most mods are covered, textures for new mods usually find their way into Soartex quickly.

Other resource packs I find interesting are John Smith and lilianfield.

On a flip side of the coin, resource packs tend to have strengths where they get something done really well and other things not so well. For example, ores might look amazing in the resource pack but the trees might be off. Sometimes you have to ask yourself if this is a big issue for you and if the resource pack as a whole is what's important.

I don't use them because the one I did download a long time ago gave my old laptop a virus. I like the idea of them but I think the game itself is pretty great on it's own. I may choose to try one again in the future if I see a cool one.

To be honest, the one texture pack that I love is called Dokucraft. Dokucraft is a texture pack which looks kind of medieval, but it's amazing. I'd highly suggest you to check it out. There are even three sub-categories: Dokucraft High, Light and Dark. They're there for you: just choose whichever one suits your mood. It also has support for quite a few mods, which is always nice.

I have tried using some, but I decided to just go with the default one. I just didn't like the fact that you should wait for the developers to update it when a new big patch comes out so I just stuck with the classic texture pack. Some just make the items look so much different it doesn't even feel like Minecraft anymore. However, there are some high-quality ones which just make the game seem so much better, but they also make my laptop feel so much worse.

I personally use Doku Craft, it has always been my favorite resource pack. I use resource packs mainly because they add something new into the game, and make it more interesting to look at.
