Rift worth it?

    I've been thinking about checking out some free mmorpg games and I've heard a lot of good about Rift and I was wondering if I should check it out? I want something new and I think if Rift is right for me, I may as well just get on it as soon as possible.

    Can some of you guys give me some pros and cons of Rift? I figure since it's free, that it isn't as good as say, World of Warcraft, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

    I don't think it's as good as WOW but it's still good. The different game environments are really interesting. It is similar to WOW in a lot of aspects but lacks the storyline and depth that WOW contains about it's characters and history.

    It being free, makes it all the better. I don't think it's as good as WOW gameplay wise, but don't let it deter you from playing it as it's a really good game, and they could easily charge people for it.

    It's fun a heck, I'll tell you that - you should definitely rush and find a guild and start going group dungeons or random adventure mode. It'll level you up like crazy, You'll reach the maximum level in no time and you'll be ready to raid :).

    It's a great game, and it's better than world of warcraft just because of the simple fact that it's free! :)

    Im trying to get into it to. Any tips for a super noob? Is its play style like any previous mmo's?

    I've started playing it today, as far as I can tell it's quite fun indeed. It's definitely similar to WoW, they were probably inspired by WoW during its creation. But since it's free, I'd suggest playing this over WoW, but if you're not planning to spend any penny, you should be well aware that you won't get stuff as easy as buyers and that there are some minor restrictions.

    Kian, whats your username? I'm starting my account today seeing as I have monday off for labor day. Might as well grind a couple hours and save some cash instead of going down the shore.

    Rift is absolutely great! The PvP could use some work, admittedly, but that's a result of the highly customizable soul system. Balancing that many options would be extremely hard. Rogue is really the only underpowered class, though. PvE, though, is where Rift absolutely shines. It's got a great endgame, that's growing relatively quickly. The game is now microtransaction based, but it definitely doesn't nickel and dime you. Store credits are commonly available as an ingame item buyable from players, "REX" as well. It goes for ~1000 plat (you probably get this once a week without farming if you play consistently), and gives around $7.50 worth of Gem Shop gems!
