So a lot of people still actually play Runescape, which is sort of surprising, to me anyways. I used to play it ALOT as a teenager all the way dating back to 2002. I quit for a couple years when they introduced trade limits, came back after they finally removed them. Then played for a bit and thoroughly enjoyed myself once again. Then they introduced EoC.... and well, it was yet another shot in the foot by Jagex to Jagex. These of course are only my opinions.

Thoughts? What is everyone's opinion of this once great game?

I think it's still a great game. Jagex is planning on introducing a system called Legacy, which will allow players to use the old combat system in RuneScape 3 (in addition to EoC). I like how you can play every class on one character, instead of having to choose one. RuneScape also has one of the most in depth crafting/profession system I've every seen in an MMO. The quests are also better than those in the average MMO. When you interact with NPCs, you actually have a conversation, where you can select what to say. The same can't be said for MMOs like WoW, which involve killing 10 wolves, or collecting 8 items. RuneScape's quests are much more in depth.

I'd have to agree with you, but if they are trying to have both combat systems side-by-side, it's going to be extremely unbalanced due to the fact that those using the EoC combat system will just button-mash. That's all PvP has become, is a who can button mash better and who attacks first.

I started playing Runescape around late 2001 or early 2002 and I was really addicted for the first few years. I guess the whole reason I'm even interested in MMORPGs is because of Runescape. I've quit many times over the years, but always go back to it. When they released Oldschool Runescape a year ago I started playing it every possible moment and was one of the top players in smithing for a while, but eventually I got burnt out and quit. Maybe I'll play for a while again when they release the Legacy system.

I know a lot of people that do play it I personally didn't like it to much, but I am sure whats making the community stay alive is the older players I don't think a lot of new players are joining everyday, but I could be wrong.

I have played it for maybe 15 minutes. People just came out and started chatting with me to try and scam me. So I quit shortly after.

The game is still pretty good and there's a lot of old school players there. I don't play it anymore, because I just got bored from it but runescape is a great game.

I still think it's very fun. Although my main recently got banned I have plans of playing again. Perhaps I will, I might not. Not sure yet.

Runescape is a great starter MMO. Just don't think the graphics or gameplay really hold up with other MMO's that are out there currently. However, it's still fun from time to time to kill some time. Working on professions are fun on occasion.

I used to love Runescape about 7 years ago, got back into it last year, then got hideously bored. Also costs WAY too much if you've completed all the free parts.

Saying that though, a friend at uni says that Runescape is still, and always will be, the best MMO out there... I do disagree though!
