The whole game was scary for me :( But the scare was clouded in action so it wasn't that bad.
The most scary for me was the level lowlife in Half-Life 2 Ep1 and ravenholm in Half-Life 2.
I could't go out side when after dark after i played :/

It would have to be Dead Space 2 (which was so flippin' hard I never finished it), with the stalkers screaming in the darkness. I'm just crouched in the corner going "Oh crap ohcrapohcrap!" :)

But Stalker SoC is a close second. Getting chased by a pack of friggin' bloodthirsty dogs still scares the crap out of me, I don't even turn to fight. Just RUN!

Well when i was young i thought resident evil was terrifying.
I actually was so scared i shut my PS2 off and never played the game again.

But recently I would say Amnesia the dark Dissent. I would scream with my headphones on

That was the one game series where I would sprint away from enemies in fright. It was one of the only instances where you don't stop to turn and see if they're still there, but instead just devoted everything you had to just keep running - hoping you were running faster than they were.

I'd say one of the scariest instances I've experienced in gaming was in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. The mission where you have to exorcise the ghost in the abandoned hotel that overlooks the water. When you walked up the steps and the light bulb pops and shatters - so fucking freaky

I don't think it matters if you know something scary is coming up or you don't. If you know it, just the excitement and nervousness will just add to the whole scary thing. But if you don't expect it, anything in you will just be alarmed and adrenaline will be rushing. I remember when I saw I am Legend, he was examining the captured zombie and I asked my "friend", who had seen the movie, if it was going to have a spaz attack, and he said "no.". So when it did freak out, my heart was going 1000 miles an hour. Or that car commercial that you've all seen....

Hmm, I didn't find FEAR too scary till right near the end. Most of the time you're just fighting humans with guns. I like horror games where most of the enemies are melee-style combatants (mutants in Metro), like in Jericho, Resident Evil, Dead Space. Guys shooting at me will never invoke true fear. Is this just me? :)

I remember playing this demo of FEAR: Project Origin on Xbox live. I got to this one part in what looks like a dark office space, where there where these white, giggline, red eyed ghosts that I couldn't (Or did not know how to) kill. So Im shooting all I got, until I have no ammo, and I don't know to get out of this room. So I run around trying to find the door out, and I keep geting hit by these ghosts that pop in on me. Scary stuff.

I remember playing some Silent Hill games (think it was Silent hill 3) on PS2, on broad daylight, and well..... I would've need a diaper at that moment xD
I freaked out as soon as there was a monster and more or less always tried to run away. I had a gun, but needed to always save ammo. Especially when I came to the boss lol xD (I didnt make it past the FIRST level, wich kinda sucked....)
