I'm not one to throw away money (ask my wife) especially when it comes to MMO's. The fact that you have to not only buy the game, but also pay monthly puts me off somewhat.

So what would you say to me to entice me into the game? What features do you think stand out over all other MMO's? Why is ESO different from other MMO's?

I've asked this question from myself too and I've come to the conclusion that they will not be offering anything that is worth the price of the game, $15 a month + microtransactions, especially as with most similar games all you need is to pay for the game.

Feels like it's the same response from most people. The hype is there, but when you really get down to it, is the game worth the time and money invested into it?

For now I will stick with Guild Wars 2. It has enough to keep me playing casually and does not ask me to invest any money other than the initial cost of the game.

I guess it really depends on your financial situation. What will you lose out on by buying the game and investing in the game play? For me, it's maybe 2 meals out. While I enjoy spending time with my partner, friends, and family over a meal. I get to play this game for a whole month, so I think I can sacrifice a little bit.

I know I'm not really selling the game, but thought I'd still add my 2 cents.

What is the reason? Recently I've seen the MMO player base avoid a lot of P2P games. Is it that players are leaning towards F2P because they can't afford the games being released? Or is it more the fact that they no longer think new MMO releases are being innovative enough?

I also said that I would be looking forward o a great B2P model like the one in GW. It's awesome!
And the question you raised is definitely thought-provoking. Are these MMOs worthy of a sub fees? Nope!

I used to be in the same spot as you, but after thinking it over I decided to wait for the monthly to drop because $15 a month is a little extreme for any game another option is to wait for a private server which I am leaning more towards until the monthly drops.

Well that's the thing. Paying $15 a month for a game... it's alright. It provides entertainment for a whole month and let's face it, in any western country $15 is pretty much nothing, won't even get you a meal in a restaurant.

However seeing as there are many free alternatives they really do need to do something extremely amazing in order to make me switch over. It's not about the money, it's about the principle of paying for something that I probably shouldn't pay for.
