Shipyard is frustrating, not fun.

Because of the artificial limits on number of ships, the random element to ship crafting, the time and materials necessary to both craft and alter ships and the utterly INSANE ship destruction mechanic this whole shipyard system is a profound failure.
Blizzard i do not know who or what team designed this but they need a basic primer on human psychology. If the shipyard were not mandatory to the legendary questline it would possibly be tolerable and something to ignore, but by making such a punitive, random and useless system necessary to play the long quest that was sold as a core element to the expansion you have essentially told the playerbase to go screw themselves.

Either fix this heinous pile of stupid or move the legendary questline off it, because this has got to be one of the most bone-headed decisions your design teams have EVER made.

I spent over 7,000 Garrison Resources on my Ships. Since Tuesday.

    ;~;

I am starting to want to favor the Zerg strategy of simply building ships and sending them off to succeed or blow up and not caring much which. Because even a 30% success chance succeeds 3 in 10 times.

Blizzard teases me with a cache mission already, and it's sitting on my mission page.

How the HECK do I get a few epic ships to complete it? Oh yeah, spend almost all my resources to hopefully get an epic ship or two, then leave me dry for the future.

I have lost 3 epic ships so far in 80% or higher missions. 2 of those ships requires multiple crafts to get, with me deleting greens. One of them i leveled from blue.
Not only can i not minimize the mission loss i have absolutely no control over whether a ship blows up beyond losing a slot to the indestructable item, which 1 requires me to lose another useful slot but also is gated behind rep.
if blizzard had wanted to create a system guaranteed to piss off players while unlocking they could not have designed a better one without adding "hey your ship blew up loser!" sound effects.

It is just a very obvious system, there is no flexibility to it nor really any decision-making or gameplay. it is like folding laundry and matching socks.. They honestly took the worst parts of the follower mission gameplay and added new bad features.

I haven't played since the update, but after reading this I'm sort of glad I didn't. I had hope that the shipyard would add something more to the game, and while it does that it doesn't really seem to do so in a positive way.

I'm sure that Blizzard is reading this right now, and they're going to fix it right away for you. It's not a great feature, but it's not that big of a deal either.

One of the problems WOW has developed is that they need to justify adding stuff. Despite it´s huge income, they rarely add stuff that is optional or for a small minority of players. Games with 1/10 the players of wow have racial and class quests galor... WOW rarely adds them because they won´t be seen by many players. They constantly feel like they have to justify adding a big feature, so they find ways to force players to use it.

I agree is so stupid. What where they thinking? Not the first time they do something like this. We should not be surprised.

Agreed. I just don't have the motivation to go outside my garrison to do more automated missions. Maybe I haven't done enough of the missions yet to be privy to cool rewards, however, I'm just not feeling it. It honestly feels like Blizz just made more chores for me to do.

I don't have anything to say about the shipyard fit for print. I find it that frustrating. If I want chores I can clean something instead of playing WoW.

Even though there is a Legendary item attached to the Naval Yard, it's still an optional piece. Therefore, the only reason I play the Naval Yard, is so I can waste more time having a bit of fun, while I wait for other things to happen around me.

The only thing I dislike about WoD is the micromanagement of my garrison. At least Blizzard should give players who make certain Achievements, the ability assign followers to Mine, to Pick Herbs, to Fish for me, then drop stuff into the mail or bank once every day or two.

It feels like a lot of the additions that center on mission automation are just the kind of busy work that free to play MMOs use to limit player progress from getting too quick. These design decisions seem blatantly titled to laying the groundwork for paywall progression shenanigans. Blizzard might be trying to condition the playerbase into getting used to these asinine systems. /tinfoil

It really is the reason WOW is doing so poorly. They stopped focusing on adding fun and interesting stuff, and instead seem to want to just find ways to add stuff that can be cloned and provide busy-work for players later on. Why build 10 different things when you can build 1 thing and make players do it 10 times.

From my view shipyards are better than garrison for mission duration. Ship missions are longer and I don't need to login as often. Oil as a resource has no real use outside shipyards. In the recent QA blizz said there were issues they weren't happy about, as always blizzard.
