During my holiday in Poland, I went to a shooting range and - for the first time in my life - I got to use a firearm. Two guns, to be more precise.

The first was a Glock pistol:

The second was a Czech variant of the Kalash:

Since there was more to hold the gun by, I found the recoil on the Kalash much easier to control than on the Glock and thus my shots were also more accurate even though I was shooting at targets from a longer range. It was a ton of fun and not that expensive. I highly recommend visiting a shooting range and trying out some of the weapons to anyone who hasn't yet done so. Next time I'm in Poland, I've gotta go there again and check out some of the other guns they had there. :D

nice one! the only firearm I have ever shot was a Winchester 73 repeater when I was about 10 years old. my dad bought it and taught me to shoot with it.

    *Emits random sex moans* ;)

but if i Remember right, that rifle isnt anything to do with the kalsh, operates on a different concept of operation. the only reason why its said to be another Kalsh is because of its shape

Yup, the project is entirely independent from the classic Kalash series.

Jupp, wasnt the mechanism more of a SVT type? Cant remember the details

VZ-58V Im pretty sure, noting the stock. What is the S Version? confusing with AkS Type weapons?

Thanks for all the comments! :D

I'm not sure which type it was, but it definitely was the VZ. 58. I just called it the Kalash in the title since that will get more views and technically it is still correct. Although it is essentially a different weapon than the AK-47, it was partially based on that design. Also, "Kalash" is a very loosely-used term. Most people in Eastern Europe use it to describe just about anything that looks like a Kalashnikov rifle, so the name doesn't apply just to the AK-47 but most (if not all) of its variants and modernizations too. I went to that shooting range asking for a "Tetetka" (which they didn't have available at the time) and a "KaƂach". They gave me a VZ. 58, so I guess it falls under the "Kalash" category.

Anyway, it doesn't make much difference to me. It was still awesome either way. Besides, I found out that I might get a chance to go to Poland again pretty soon in August (which would be awesome). So I'm going to start saving up some money, as I plan to go to that shooting range again if I do get to go to Poland in August. Their prices were decent, but I hope to try out more weapons the next time I go there. Perhaps I'll try a Russian Kalash too. :)

Haha, that'd be about right, its just those western'ers that have the urge to call everything by its proper name xD

This time during my holiday in Poland I went to the same shooting range twice, shooting the Tetetka, the Nagant revolver and the SKS - then shooting the Tetetka, SKS and the vz. 58 again. I have no videos this time, but I might post some pics.

EDIT: Sorry for resurrecting the thread, but I see no point in creating a new topic for this.

For some reason, I generally find it much easier to control the recoil and be more accurate with rifles than pistols (which is the exact opposite of what my bro and my friends experienced). With pistols I tend to jerk the trigger, which causes my accuracy to suffer and although controlling the recoil on most handguns is easy and doesn't cause me any problems, I am never confident enough with it. I feel much better with a rifle in my hands, as even though the recoil is larger it all goes into the shoulder if you're holding it properly. I found the SKS to be the most pleasant to use out of all the guns I've fired so far. The recoil is apparently greater on the SKS than the vz. 58 and the weapon is also heavier than the vz. 58, but I think I found the SKS easier to aim and shoot. I can't really say how the kick compares to firearms except for the other ones I've tried, however it seems ok and very easy to control to me.

Not with a P90, at least. That thing spits the bullets out as fast as a surprised person with drink in their mouth spits out drops.

Nice, were you shooting in full auto? I only had the opportunity to fire the vz. 58 in semi-auto mode as full auto is illegal in most countries, as far as I'm aware (semi-auto and other weapons are still a ton of fun though so I don't mind).
