Should I buy this game?

I'm really in the mood to play a good game. I played the first one and liked it. This one looks even better. I would probably buy the ranger DLC for the difficulty levels. I also want to 100% this game. Do you think it would be worth it to buy it now? Or should I wait a few months. Now is a perfect time because I am not doing anything and would love to just dump hours into a game.

How long would this game be if I try to get all achievements? I know that would be multiple playthroughs.

EDIT: Thanks everyone. I bought the game and so far it's pretty great. Graphics are incredible, sound is amazing, gameplay is great. I'm heading to the theater now. So I don't think I have gone too far.

Yes, you should get it. :)

It took me 40 hours (spanning two playthroughs and some use of the chapter select feature) to collect all of the achievements on the game. However, I was really taking my time with the game on my first playthrough (no human kills on hard difficulty, good ending and as much exploration as possible). If you plan on killing your opponents, then it will take you much less time to get everything to 100% completion. There's not that much replay value, to be honest, but it's a brilliant game and the singleplayer can take anywhere from 6 to 20 hours to finish depending on just how you play - so there is more choice in terms of gameplay than there was in the first game. Last Light is also slightly easier and less spiritual, but it is still very much a Metro game.

You should buy it. It has a lot of replay value for a linear shooter. The story is amazing. If you can I would get it and if you hurry you might be able to find a limited edition and get the ranger dlc and the RPK free.

I would recommend it. It's like the first game, in that for some unexplainable reason, I feel compelled to keep playing it over and over again, even though it's largely the same experience each time.

Definitely go and buy it. If you can get limited edition, it would be perfect.

It is disputable wherther to buy Ranger pack DLC or not. Ranger difficulty is "so-so" implemented (look up topics here for more info) and the weapon (RPK) is mediocre at best. There is even less incentive to buy that DLC since it is possible to modify registry to gain access to full Ranger difficulty settings (not sure about the weapon).

I also feel that this game has lots of replay value for linear shooter it is. If you do your first play-through on normal settings (easy, normal or hardcore), you surely want to play the game again on one of the ranger settings because the experience will be very different.

I completed this game twice already, normal and ranger normal, and now playing on hardcore normal. I rarely did this to any FPS lately--Far Cry 3 was only exception but that is open world FPS--including Dishonored and Bioshock:Infinite.

which platform did you get it on?
glad to see you like it. :D
If you got it on PC and didn't get ranger hc, then don't waste $5 on it. Just use the registry hack to bring back disc locked content. If you're on console then you're out of luck, sorry. :(

If you like the game at the end then keep an eye out for the season pass or individual content when Deep Silver decide to give information and pricing on it individually.

P.S The game has loads of bugs, and I mean LOADS!!! regardless of platform, that is one thing that is annoying as it breaks immersion. nevertheless, the game is a solid 7/10.

I must be one lucky sod because I did not encounter any but one minor glitch during my first play-through (auto-saved into a position, which crashed my game upon reloading).
My second play-through I encountered a glitch with Pavel (I believe this one is famous/frequent) not moving and also funny graphic glitch where my hands were misaligned in a cut-scene but the glitch persisted into game until I restarted the chapter.

My first playthrough pre-patch the game was fine, I had no problems. But only after my second playthrough I've had loads, which coincidently happened after various patches.

I recommend Last Light as a full price purchase. I haven't encountered many bugs. Only a few floating objects in various areas, nothing game-breaking for me. Even on Ps3 this game looks and works great

I had one crash and very few bugs/glitches on the PC version... that's much better than what I can say for many other games. :p

Same here-single crash that happens only at one exact point in the game. I had some performance issues pre-patch,but nothing really game breaking.
Another lucky SOB here.Game runs smooth and bug free :)

I haven't had any problems at all. I have gotten myself killed because the the graphics are so amazing that I forgot to watch out. While I was busy looking around at the scenery that I'd let some creature surprise attack me. LOL "Wow, what an amazing skyline view, wait whats that coming up on my left, aahhhh :p " Anyway, its one of the most accurate and intense FPS I've played.
