Should I choose a strategic cruiser?

    Why would I use a strategic cruiser? It seems that I can find better ships for cheaper in most cases. Am I being dumb (don't answer that)? Educate me.

    Strategic cruisers have the advantage of having very quick skill training times for the hull. They are also extremely configurable utilizing the same skills for the hull. They also typically have slightly better bonuses when all things are taken into consideration than a ship of comparable size (the right setup can out-tank and outhit a battleship easily, and then there's things like auto-lock lokis).
