I have Skyrim for my 360... but I can't even tell you the last time I turned on my Xbox. I'm a major PC gamer and I've been debating putting Skyrim on my computer. I need some pros and cons, differences from Xbox to PC, and so on. Motivate me! Or not. I need opinions, haha.
Well for one thing, PC has a ton of mods that you can apply to the game to make it more interesting to play. Consoles don't allow that kind of flexibility and thus doesn't offer the amount of replayability that PC would. That being said the menus are definitely created for consoles...which sucks on the PC version because you can tell that right off the bat, but once again there's mods to fix it. It's stupid on the studio's part since the franchise has historically been on PC first. But other than the crummy console menus...it's fun on the PC.
Hm.. Alright. I may go ahead and get it then. If I do, I'll definitely post my thoughts of it either here or in a new thread. Thanks for the info. I think I'll love the fact that I can mod it... so that's a plus. I'm just hesitant because I don't know how much I'll play it. Fingers crossed.
I agree with Cereus, aside from the obvious advantage in terms of performance and graphics (depending on how powerful your PC is) that the console version of the game doesn't quite have, the mods are what makes this game worth getting for the PC. I haven't installed any mods yet and even in vanilla I find myself still playing the game every now and then 3 years after it was released.
Xbox or PS3 version can't be compared with PC version as the latter is far more superior than the former. Besides being graphically superior, there are tons of mods available exclusively for PC players.
I'm primary a PC gamer, hence why I haven't turned my Xbox in so long. I'll probably sell it, honestly. I know graphics are an advantage but I wasn't sure if getting the PC very was actually worth getting a second copy of the game. I love mods and graphics, so it sounds like I should
The mods make the PC version a lot more enjoyable than the console versions, but I got tired of everything Skyrim pretty quickly compared to other games.
Skyrim seems to be a sort of repetitive game... which is why I've been hesitant. The mods seem to make it worth it though.
If you have only ever played Skyrim on a console than you should absolutely get the game again on PC now that it has gone cheaper. I can not stress enough just how awesome the game is with mods. Honestly without the modding community I don't think any of Bethesdas games would be as popular as they are.
Absolutely! I have played Skryim both on the 360, and the PC. PC wins hands down. Like others have mentioned, the mods alone make it worth it. With mods you can customize just about every facet of the game. Right now I am using a mod that improves AI, and a real life mod where you have to drink, eat, and sleep to maintain your stamina.
I didn't realize the mods were such a dramatic change until reading some of the forums. I knew a friend who had modded his Skyrim, but I never really watched him play it. Side note: I just asked my husband, "Is it okay if I get Skyrim?" Him: Yeah, just don't get addicted to it. haha PC almost always wins... just saying. haha What mods are those? I'll definitely check them out.
Of course you should! PC version bring you the possibility to install a lot of AWESOME mods, not only changing-gameplay ones but also these with graphics change like ENB. I was modding Skyrim a lot like 1 year ago (and earlier, but it was like "nice mod! - click, oh and that too! - click, and I love that one! - click, ERROR - game broken), but my PC is too weak to implement some really good ones. I have a lot of screenshots from that game and I can tell you it looks really beautiful.
I would say yes you should if you still want to continue playing it that is. The games is super cheap now you can get it for around 5 bucks on sale and 10 for the GOTY. The pc has much better graphic compared to the 360 and with some mods can look even more realistic. Or you coan add some of the crazy over the top mods like macho man dragons. Nuff Said
