I think Minecraft should have an in-game tutorial that is optional, most people who want to learn the game end up researching tutorials on things like youtube anyway. The tutorial would make it much easier for new people to join, instead of forcing them to play with no idea whatsoever of what you can do, or requiring them to use outside resources to learn how to play. What do you think?

Maybe. When I first started, I always wished there was like an index with tutorials on how to do certain things. I think I would have been a lot less frustrated as a newbie.

Yes, but I don't think it should be in-game. I think they should just include a really good PDF manual with the game, so it doesn't take up unnecessary space.

I don't think Minecraft needs and in-game tutorial. It is fun to try and figure out different crafting recipes on your own. If you don't want to do that, you can easily check the internet for a quick tutorial. This way, you have the option to either try figure out the recipes on your own or look them up.

It kind of does with the achievement system but a proper tutorial couldn't hurt.

Well, it still doesn't tell you how to make the items to unlock the achievements, so it's not really a tutorial. More like a reward for finding out how to do it on your own, I guess.

Personally I think that new players should be directed to the Minecraft wikia instead of making a tutorial. A proper tutorial would be nice but there are already hundreds of user-made tutorials over the Internet. YouTube has a lot of videos about starting out on Minecraft, etc.

In my opinion, absolutely not. I think it ruins the idea of being thrown into the world without knowing what to do. Also, tutorials suck. They always just tell you exactly what to do and make the game less fun. Besides, anyone can easily look up helpful videos online if they need help on how to get started in Minecraft. It's what I did.
Assuming you don't have Internet, you can just figure it out on your own, because Minecraft really isn't THAT difficult of a game to get into, regarding its addictive aspects.

Well it kind of does. There is that video that is like "Do whatever you want to do" That is all the help you need to get started into the game.

I think that Minecraft do not really need in-game tutorial. It is just fun trying and figuring out many different crafting recipies. But if you are too lazy or just do not want to do that you can simply check Internet for tutorials. So you have both options to either try figure out recipes or look for them somewhere else.

I have seen a few videos even though I have not started playing the game yet, but I think that the game will be fun without one, because I feel that it is fun to figure out how to do things. I am going to start playing ASAP, because I am so happy that I see so many people liking this game right now and I really like it too.

I don't think Minecraft needs to have a in-game tutorial, as the game is simple as it is. I actually think that having an in-game tutorial take away from the actual game itself, since a lot of the game is based around discovering new things.

I say they should in the near future, especially for the new users that would like to know what they're getting into before they actually play, it would make more sense than starting the game for the first time, being in the middle of the forest confused. At least for new game players in general.

Minecraft is the type of game where you can start for the first time and really get a lot of things done. You might not know everything, but even breaking down blocks and building a house is invigorating enough for new players. You don't need a tutorial, although it's good to look online for basic crafting recipes and other things. Otherwise, it's better to simply learn as you go, and that's more than possible with this game.

I think that it is quite unneeded. Most of the game is pretty self-explanatory. The only thing that I see people having any difficulty with is that you need to hold down to gather a block instead of clicking multiple times.

I think there should be an optional basic tutorial, yes. I mean, I played back when Minecraft was still a very small indie project, and the only way to know how to do anything was to ask others who had worked it out for themselves, or work it out for yourself. Which meant, even though we had the capabilities of doing grand, wondrous things, because there was no way of knowing what we could do, we couldn't even begin to do these things if you understand what I mean?

Now, if you want to know how to build a working game within Minecraft, all you have to do is check Youtube.

I think there should be. I know I'm the type of person to just dive into games and I sort of was confused on a lot when I first started.

The console versions have a "tutorial" of sorts, although it's completely optional. I think it works well. Heck, I'd been playing Minecraft for a while on the PC before I played the console version, and the console version taught me how to make potions! *lol*

I definitely think there should be an ingame tutorial. When I first started I was just thrown in and had no idea what to do. I had to watch a ton of youtube videos before I could function properly.

I think so, it kind of throws you into the game without any real instruction.. I had to look up stuff to know what I was doing..
