So, about the fact that the main character should be more than 200 years old...

You've seen the gameplay during E3, right? Apparently between the prologue and the actual start of the game there's a timeskip of 200 years, but we're still using the same character in both sections. They said that it will be explained during the story, but let's make up some theories just for fun: how do you think they'll explain this?

Maybe the Vault you were inside in for all those years discovered a way to stop aging, or maybe you're a clone of the character you were using during the prologue? What do you guys think?

Maybe they kept you frozen in stasis for all this time. Explaining how the character is 200 years old is not really hard. What is hard is for the whole thing to make sense. :D

Both pretty good theories, I'd say the frozen in statis one resembles reality more (although we're not here for mundane things). Maybe you have a device of some sort that stops your body from aging? Who knows. :p

Maybe while the character was trying to make their way into the Vault as everything went to hell around them, they somehow tripped into a Tardis and hit their heads, rendering them unconscious. The Tardis then decides to go forward in time and chuck the character out the first chance it can get...which is roughly 200 years in the future for some reason.

Technology! Videogames usually don't have plausible explanations for any wild advancement, etc. I bet it has something to do with the MIT equivalent though.

Haha, good one! I hope a modder will actually make a mod about that, and maybe even add the Doctor to the Fallout universe, so you can have a quest with him as a companion. :D The Tardis already showed up in a Fallout 1 random encounter, so it would not really be new. :p

Yeah, that's where I got my theory from since I was playing Fallout 1 on Steam and ran into it. I was like " WTF" before I started laughing when I got the reference:D

He had to have been frozen because it's the same character coming out, but it could also be a clone maybe.

I'm for the frozen or cloning theories, since they seem the most plausible if you're to be considered a relatively normal human. On the flip side you could be some sort of mutant, instead, one whose only mutation is severe longevity. Though I'd hope there would be some extensive back story to go along with why the mutation happened in the first place.

Maybe while in the vault, you do age for a 100 years and then after that time starts to go back by 100 years meaning that you've been in the vault for 200 years and you've aged and you've also turned back the hands of time... like the Turritopsis dohrnii

You mean like they were infected with an experimental FEV strain that froze their biological age and stopped the aging process on their body altogether? It would work if the protagonist was the kid of a scientist like the Lone Wanderer, but I still believe in my Tardis explanation XD

I mean just the fact that they're hiding the explanation means that it's something original that makes sense. Or at least I hope it does. But Fallout games are usually pretty genius in that regard so I hope for some crazy stuff.

I think they said that you may run into your wife and kid as the game progresses, so the most plausible scenario is that most people in the Vault were frozen in some way. Maybe because there was lack of food? Maybe they got unfrozen when there were more resources/better conditions?

I think it has something to do with the main story in general, that is why they are hiding any kind of explanation so far. I can`t wait to explore the truth, once the game launches.

The Stasis thing makes sense, and so does the cloning thing. Also, weren't there the "brains in a jar" in New Vegas? Hmmm.

I'm all for the antagonist being frozen but what if he was a cyborg, either complete robot with just the brain of the guy we saw in the clip before the war, or maybe just had his vital organs replaced with robotic ones. Either way I cant wait to play the game!!!

That concept could work story-wise, since we already had encounters with people being made into robots in New Vegas` DLC packs. But the protagonist looks way too human for him to be a cyborg, unless Bethesda flat out copied Terminator. :D

I'm thinking the frozen/cryogenic sleep type theories are probably the ones that will end up right. But I still think it would be awesome if the character ended up being an android (doubting it though, I'll hope for an android companion if the main character isn't one). I'm mostly curious to see why it seems like the main character is the only one to survive in the vault.. Maybe an issue with the system that kept everyone frozen?

I think that the protagonist is just the grandchild of the person you play as at the beginning, sure, it's unlikely, however it's just my thought
