I know it's kind of too soon to talk about this but is there something that you don't like from the trailers and gameplay videos you've seen? The AI is kind of hard to pull off, that's what I'm worried about.
I agree with the AI thing but for the most part, judging by what I saw in the demos recently, I don't think I have any issues with the game so far. But I'm saving my judgement later on when I get my hands on the game.
I don't know if I'd say that I don't "like" it, but I'm worried about the Dark Zone rules a bit. I'm just curious about the challenge of a successful extraction and what the success rate will be. Is it a 1 in 10 type thing? Because that could get old where every time you find an item in the Dark Zone, you can never extract it because you get killed too easily. I just hope that it doesn't turn into spawn killing, or a group of a few just overpowering everyone else.
The AI is my biggest worry about the game, its notoriously difficult to program an NPC to a level of complexity where it can test a real human, and its always the area thats sadly lacking in many big titles. Its going to be the single most importantly factor in the longevity of the game, if its poorly coded, it could seriously effect my enjoyment of the game, the trailers suggest the AI is going to be ground-breaking, but I'll have to wait until I'm actually playing before I know whether its any good.
The fact that the difference between guns seems like it's just a number. My gun will do more damage than yours because it's higher level so I'm stronger than you, stuff like that. I hope it's more than that.
I'm sure the guns will be differentiated by more than that. In CS:GO there are a lot of factors that make a guns good (recoil, fire rate etc.) and I'm sure we'll see those features in The Division as well.
I'm sure there will be plenty of variety in firepower in the finished product, its a tried and tested area of many MMO and FPS games that has been coded successfully many times before. The developers have probably not released too much information about it because 1) Its kind of similar to every other game involving guns, so therefore not that interesting, and 2) Hopefully they have a surprise or two up their sleeves and don't want to give too much away at the moment
I hope so. I've always disliked games that rely on a leveling system. It seems kinda unfair to new players, because, no matter how good they are, the reason they were killed is down to their level.
True, but on the flip-side of things, it's fun when you've played the game a lot and your character is more powerful for it thanks to the levelling system. I'm actually curious as to how they will strike that balance, and if levelling will have a big effect on your character's power.
I might sound like a complete jerk but I think the one I don't like about this game is the fact that it's from Ubisoft. Granted Ubisoft is one of the best in terms creating quality games but I just hate how they tend to mess things up. Getting everyone's expectations and hyping the game up only to release a crapped down final version that barely does what it's told us to do. But so far, I think the only concern I have is the AI, same as others. It's pretty hard to nail down AI especially when it comes to NPC's that would require tight interactions with real players.
Ubisoft have their faults for sure, but they aren't all bad and many other developers suffer from the same problems. At least they did put back the launch date to apparently ensure that The Division is as completed as possible before launch. I share your concerns about AI though, the trailers suggest that theres going to be a great level of complexity in the AI, and that is a lot of work for the coders and one of the most difficult areas of gameplay to get right.
I hear you man. If they can pull off this one without any major issues I think this game would be great and it;s good to see that they're really putting in a lot of thought when it comes to making sure that this game is running as expected. I hope they do the same with AC though, I mean they're all good but every game feels like it's been rushed in order to catch up on the release date.
I couldn't agree more with you about AC, they are all good but theres always something that seems like it would have been really easy to fix. When are developers going to realise that rushing a game out does them no good in the end, once you've got a reputation for putting out buggy games its never going to go away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for The Division and I know that delaying the release date is probably a good omen for the finished product.
None so far as far as I'm concerned. I feel a bit of unease when it comes to the actual gameplay and how everything would fit it. I'm pretty sure the game would be okay if not really good but I'm worried about how Ubisoft would execute this one because it seems like nothing they've done in the past before.
Have we actually seen any NPCs in this game, by the way? Are there any? Except for the enemies I mean. Surely someone has to give out quests to you in some form, right?
I think it's not really the developers fault since they're tied with a tight deadline and I heard somewhere that even if the game is not 100% finished and it's on the brink of the deadline they release it anyway granted that it's working okay. The delay can be good or bad since you can't be so sure that maybe the delay is due to the fact that the game is being rushed and it wasn't finished on the time of release or they're trying to fix something minor.
The more I read about The Division, the more it looks like it'll be a game that will need to be played as part of a group. From what I read from accounts from EGX 2015, there was a huge line to play it, and mostly it was being thrown into the PvP aspect of the game. It seems like it'll be very chaotic and you'll need to work as a team. There hasn't been very much info outside of that, from what I can tell.
I can confirm, the lines were long, so very very long. I was just unable to wait around that long as I only had about an hour there. But the people I talked to who did get chance to play it were all blown away by it, particularly with the graphics. I was kind of hoping for a decent single-player element involved but the most popular play-style is likely to be PvP in keeping with similar titles.
Yeah, I'd have a hard time justifying waiting over 5 hours just to play this game for a bit. I think you can get a good enough sense of what it's about by watching videos and such. It looks like people who want stealth and single player should probably steer clear of this game, from all accounts so far.
It's fine. Like I wasn't expecting a single player experience in the first place, and I'm probably going to play it with a bunch of friends, so this is all good news to me!
