! Notice, this is complete and utter speculation !

    What I've been thinking:

There are three images below. The first is a map of the metro, seen in Metro 2033. The second is of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The third is the Bolshoi Theatre. How are these related?

Well, in the 2012 E3 demo, Artyom looks to his left; what does he see? The Cathedral. He looks ahead; what does he see? The Bolshoi Theatre. Using their locations (thanks to Komodo Saurian) I was able to triangulate where the Red Line officer (Pavel) and Artyom exited the Metro. It's not much, but it gives us a general idea of where those hooligans were!

So, where do they start their journey on the surface? The map shown says near the depot, but it also shows that the depot is located near the real-life Tretyakovskaya station.

    Questions unanswered:
    1) Why is Artyom even near the depot?
    2) How did Pavel, a "Red Line officer" end up at the depot?

  2. The depot is not the station though. It's just adjacent to one, apparently. The station marked as the location of the Depot is Tretyakovskaya station.

You should give yourself a pat on the back for brain storming this one. :)

  7. Wait, Teddy, you are an idiot.

They aren't going to the surface at the Depot, Tretyakovskaya station is way too far: across the Kremlin and two Moscow river distributaries.

They get up through the Metropol Hotel across the street from the Bolshoi theater and use an underpass to get to the entrance. 4A Games aren't 100% accurate with building shapes and placement, so I can't tell which entrance they use. The one on this side of the street, or the one across near the Theater.

^ That, and as a note to future viewers, I thought of the concept, while Komodo did most of the detective-work. So, say your thanks to him!
