Sorry if this has been already discussed. Quite a n00b here but...

Since stalkers have been introduced in the Metro 2033 universe, we've only a few times seen them in action (though, stalkers were quite abundant in the book because they were replaced in the game by the rangers). If I remember correctly, Stalkers in the Metro Universe were much similar to pilots, cosmonauts and knights in ours.

Though the Metro game INTRODUCED us to them, we saw little action from their side. I think this does the folks little justice considering the fact that they were only a passing comment from Bourbon (who I consider also a stalker).

The book did so much to expand on them, so with their training, their tactics as well as their flashlight signs. They should at least be a faction to appear in the game Metro Last Light as both enemies and allies.

    Thoughts?

I think they should be shown as mysterious in Metro Last Light. They could be seen prowling around, and it would be great to see the flashlight-spinning communication incorporated.

^ Definitely would be cool to keep them mysterious, but not so mysterious that they're like some kind of myth. They're real people, who live in the Metro just like anyone else, so hopefully we'll see a bit more of them in the next game. It would be nice to see more evidence that they are out there, and hear more about them. Maybe hear some interesting stories, or even meet an ex-Stalker and he tells us about his past life.

In Metro 2033, seeing dead bodies on the surface as the only evidence of these Stalkers made them seem pretty useless and killed the awe-inspiring mood as soon as we were told about them. Sure, they're probably just the idiots that didn't have what it takes to be a Stalker, and the real Stalkers don't need to be seen or heard to get the job done. And for all we know, anyone we meet could be a Stalker, they just don't shout it down the tunnels. But it did kinda kill that feeling of these great guys that went up to the surface to bring things back, when the only ones we encounter are corpses.

IMO, Stalkers should continue with the aloof appearances. They could be passing strangers that simply ignore or acknowledge artyom, sometimes fighting alongside him when faced with numerous mutants, though not sticking long enough to die. They could have like a condition in which if they recieve that amount of damage, they can try to flee or they can decide to make a desperate attack and all that crud, just like how desperate times call for desperate measures.

    Or ...

Maybe spotting them on rooftops watching Moscow's ruins, or maybe walking back to the metro stations carrying dead bodies and the such, or engines, scraps and all the shizz. Sometimes even doing the occasional, "Brothers! I'm trapped in a blah blah blah... lotsa loot... willing to share... surrounded by mutants/nazis/reds... blah blah blah on your radio" or even seeing firefights at a distance. All the common things you'd expect from Stalkers.

The dead city in Metro 2033 seemed so... dead. xD

STALKERS are scavengers and neutral npcs, but they can attack you if you try to steal their loot, their involvement was medium and indirect in Metro 2033 because you could find bodies of them as well as scavenged resources as well as stashes of them, they where a very valuable tool of you wanted to explore allot

A great thought, really. I want them to appear more in Last Light as well. I'd want them to not really be one organization of people, but more of a faction that typically steals and robs, but also could fight (just a little bit) for any side they'd want to themselves, but avoid danger and warring as much as they can. I'd want them to be shy and mysterious, but also what they really are called: Stalkers. Would be cool to see two or three of them shortly after each other, as if they were trying to get a good opportunity to strike you in the back. I want them to seem curious, but as I've already said, shy. Would be even more cool if one of them helped you along the way, but in the end turned out to betray you just for his (or HER, ey) own benefits of it.

Would be cool if there were a few stalkers walking around here and there instead of just finding dead bodies.

For my Stalker is a person wich works alone and dies alone surouded by the dead bodies of mutants.. well what im saying is that stalker should be neutral class, because from the Stalker game series are people who does eveything for money, in the metro universe it would be bullets :) And the next thing i noticed that stalkers are kinda bad orginised considering with the rangers and maybe thats why there are so meny dead bodies on the surfice, well in the book they are went in the packs and those lights signals would be great to meet in metro last lights, like after inense battle , runnig from some mutants you see the flaslight in the horizon and it just turns to you and does 3 cycrles... if i remember correctly ;)

    Pretty informative article here: http://metro2033.wikia.com/wiki/Stalkers

Otherwise, I pretty much agree with what everyone's said. I'd like them to make an appearance in Last Light, but in all seriousness they probably won't. Their role in the novel is HUGE, but not so much in the games, so if I were a betting man I'd wager against seeing them in Last Light.
