Out of all the starters across the games, from Red and Blue to X and Y - what are your favourite starters and why? Did you always choose them when playing the games or did you try the others too?
I generally choose fire starters, I find they're stronger. My all time favorite is Charmander. Sometimes I'll switch it up and try Squirtle or Bulbasaur, but I usually stick with Charmander. I've loved it since I was a kid, it's my favorite Pokemon.
I started in Ruby, so I will always have a special place in my heart for Torchic. I tend to go for versatile Pokemon as starters though, so I don't always end up picking fire as my starter. Most recently, in XY I was a Fennekin supporter, but previously I had chosen Piplup and Oshawott.
My favourite starter of all time is Cyndaquil. It was quite useful against the first couple gym leaders. Oh and let's not forget it looked awesome!
I'll definitely agree with Cyndaquil. He was so adorable! Plus, fire starters are a big plus for me. I am just drawn to their pyro abilities as well as they tend to be cuter.
I usually try to change the starter I choose when replaying the games. I tend to lean towards the grass lines with Bulbasaur, Treecko, Turtwig, and Snivy being some of my favorites.
It's hard for me to choose in alot of the games. However, when it comes to Pokemon Gold, there is only one starter for me; the ever lovely Cyndiquil. There's something about that fire weasel that just makes me wish I could have one and it's always done well for me when it came time for the Elite Four.
I generally go with either the water starter or the fire starter (usually water); choosing the grass starter is rare for me. Water types are my favorite Pokemon type overall so that has some influence over it, obviously. But in general, I have a tendency to choose Pokemon based on how much I like their appearance, and I usually think the water types are the best in that area too. My favorite of all though, even though it isn't a water type, was actually Fennekin in X/Y. I love Braixen, the evolve form, so that's why I chose that one. Such a cute little fox - I named mine Fauna - who looks like a magician. I also love Piplup, Froakie, Cyndaquil, and Torchic. Pretty even mix of water and fire there.
I definitely go for the Fire-types when I first play a Pokemon game. Torchic and Charmander were obvious choices. When I do it over though I usually choose Water types so Piplup and Squirtle were my big winners. I never liked Plant-type Pokemons but that's just a personal bias, their sleep and stun can kill a game.
I really like Charmander or Cyndiquil, however in Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald, I chose Mudkip! I just love it. :3
My favorite has always been Charizard, because... well he's a f*cking dragon! I know, not a dragon type, but you get the point, he has an awesome design for a first gen Pokemon. I always tend to pick the fire starter because I'm convinced that grass types to defeat your opponent are easy to find in early game. I also like to play with OP starters like mega tank Venusaur and Swampert.
Might as well break it down a bit: Gen 1: Charmander, because, eventually, Charizard Gen 2: Totodile - I've always had a soft spot for reptiles, and I don't like the designs of the other two lines that much Gen 3: Torchic, though I like all three Gen 4: Piplup or Turtwig, can't decide Gen 5: Snivy - dat superior 'tude Gen 6: Froakie, because, eventually, Greninja I don't think I could choose an overall favourite. Too hard.
This is basically the answer, haha! Piplup or Snivy are amazing starters, or you can go the basic fire route with Charmander.
This is a good question. Kanto: Bulbasaur (chose Charmander in FR/LG) Johto: Cyndaquil Hoenn: Treecko Sinnoh: Piplup is my favorite, but I chose Chimchar in my first playthrough because he's pretty overpowered in the late game Unova: Oshawott Kalos: Fennekin (Fire/Psychic is such an amazing type combo *_*) Out of all of them, my favorite is probably Treecko. Ruby was my first Pokemon game, so I'm probably a little biased, but...there's a reason why he's the only grass type on this list. Gen III and Gen I are probably the only generations where I love all of the starters.
