    You install bulk of the game's installation files iirc. From what I've read the game is around 9Gb including High Res texture packs. That way you do not stress the servers on release day and all you do is download a couple of Mb's which will unlock the full game allowing you to play.

    Already pre-loaded with max speed about 10mbps. Hoping for the full achievement list to pop up before the release as well.

    I was under the impression steam throttled to 2mb/s. I have AT&T at 24mb/s but never get to download above 2. :(

    Probably a bit late seeing as it's out now but thought you might be interested anyway - it pre-loads the same place it would install to but it encrypts all the data, then when Steam release the game all it needs to do is download a small file that unencrypts it so you can play :)
