Swords, Spears, Bows, Axes or Sticks?

We all know those weapons are the common ones in nearly all pseudo-medieval-era style RPG's. Which weapon would your main character wield if you were the author of one of these RPG's?

    Cheers!

Swords all the way. The most iconic medieval RPG weapon of all time. However, if you want to be more realistic, apparently spears are more effective weapons against individuals who are wearing armor. Unfortunately, someone wielding a spear looks far less cool than someone wielding a sword.

Swords and bows for days, I'd probably choose swords as my favorite melee weapon. By the way, who would use sticks when you can choose better weapons? :D

If I can't become a mage, I almost always make an archer. Probably something to do with me loving Robin Hood so much as a kid.

Magic sticks by the way haha.

Depends on the spear and depends on the wielder. The art of Kain from Final Fantasy IV makes him look much cooler than Cecil, the main character, and Kain has a spear. Most of the dragoons in Final Fantasy look downright badass with their spears.

    ... but yeah, swords. Sigh.

I'd pick sword, no doubt. It's my favorite weapon and it's partly even why I favor devil may cry over god of war, because Dante uses a sword and pistols while kratos uses chain whips, and I personally think swords look a bit cooler. Axe would be a close second if I didn't have any other choice.

The sword is useful when fighting foes who have blades and can slash them as it will give you time to fight the other enemies who may try and attack you while you are fighting the foe in front of you and would power it up. I like to enjoy the bow and arrow when there are many foes with bows in their hands which can make you distracted as you will try and focus on them while the ones with swords try and come after you which can be tricky as it can lead to a massive fight. It will be good to have a blade with chains like Kratos around your arms and wrist and amazing how he can even sleep with blade which can be painful if you are not careful and that would be an nice weapon.

I think I'd be more of a long range unit. So I'd chose bow as primary weapon, and also carry a short blade just in case of unavoidable direct combat situations.

Oh, then that's something I would probably rate higher than bows, magic sticks are cool, haha! :D Now it depends on the power they posess as well.

I'll take a swordspear stickaxe bow. Easiest decision of my life. And before you ask, the stickaxes are shaped like swordspears, and the bow shoots them. Obvi.

Swords and more swords. I would use dual wielding if needed. But, definitely swords. I wouldn't think of using a bow, because I simply think its too much of an effort.

I'd use a bow, purely because you'd be able to shoot from further away, but like someone else said, carry a small knife with me just in case.

I really do wish I could use a bow. But, I get all riled up every time I need to fight. But, my friend is a superb archer, and that's why he's on the team too.

Ugh, tough choice. Sword would be the easiest go to choice....since swords have many styles and are cool....but I like to be unique.
I think I would prefer a Spear but an Axe would be a close second.

I'll usually always pick a sword and shield as my RPG weapons, but I do love a good bow at my side. There is something insanely cool about taking down enemies from afar, like Legolas in Lord of the Rings... But then again, being a mage, blasting stuff away with a staff is cool too... and sneaking, stabbing people with a dagger from the shadows... So um, yeah, I can't pick...

Bah, okay: sword. That's my pick. It's the one I usually choose... although for some reason I ended up with a two-handed sword in Dragon Age.

I like two handed weapons too. But, they are a bit of a hassle since you can't defend yourself like you can with a shield. I never got anything done with a staff - maybe I just didn't have the patience for it. A sword is so efficient and fast, you just slash and move ahead.

Swords, of course! A longsword is always classic, though bastard swords are also neat.

I prefer a sword, spear or an axe more than anything. I really like close-combat than mid or long-range combat.

If I am a melee fighter in any game at all, the bigger the sword the better for me. Although twin swords look cooler, I always go for the two handed swords that pack a wallop and USUALLY look cooler than just a sword and a shield.
