Has anyone played this tales of symphonia dawn of the new world? I loved the first one, tales of symphonia is probably my favourite tales game, but for what I see, in this one Lloid is the bad guy, and that's something I cannot understand.

How is the story of this game? Is it worth of it?

I have played it. Its pretty good if you are a fan of the Symphonia story and desperately want more. Its a short game though. Nothing like the length the original had. You only really get to "grow" two characters but it still is fun to play through at least once. The monster training gameplay adds a little spice to the game. But besides training the monsters for tournaments having them in your party isn't all its cracked up to be. I would have rather had more characters than a monster training feature.

Oh and don't worry about the story. Most if not all of it of it will make sense by the end.

It's a disappointing, and unnecessary sequel to the original game. Despite that, it's still a decent enough game. The music and battle system are both top notch, though certain aspects like the monster raising are hit and miss. The story is ok, but seems a bit convoluted and overly complex when looked at next to the original - though that could be a good or bad thing depending. Like the previous poster saidd, if you're really looking for more Symphonia, it's worth a shot.

It's okay. Not amazing. I didn't like the story as much, nor the main protagonist, but if you really want to dive back into the world of Symphonia Dawn of the New World does a decent job. Don't expect to get as much use out of the original cast in this one, though - they join your party, but they all get level capped, and aren't much use unless you're playing on Normal.

I think people think too low of the main character. Sure, he had one of the most annoying voices ever but it was refreshing to see a protagonist with a....cowardly disposition. Not to mention the complexity of his character that develops later on. Maybe the story was rushed and that is why people may think his character is unrealistic but I think he gets too much flak for it.

It's not so much that I dislike Emil, it's just that I don't like him as much as Lloyd. I enjoyed Lloyd's dopey, happy-go-lucky personality, particularly as a bit of a break from the oft-emo protagonists in the games I was playing at the time. (As I recall I played Final Fantasy VIII just before trying Symphonia for the first time, so it was quite a jump.)

Fair enough. I can support your reasoning. I suppose Emil wasn't as fun to follow as Lloyd was.
I guess my venting was more of a reaction to the internet's response to Emil as a whole.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is an a-ok game. It is not the best. It is not the worst. I remember the music being a bit catchy....
