The End, literally.

What did you think of the addition to the game giving an actual finish to the somewhat sandbox game?

Personally, I really enjoyed the gathering of materials and scouting for the portal but the boss fight lacked interesting mechanics. Finally the end credits I'm not sure how such a pseudo philosophical existentialist ending fits into a game created for all ages.

It was a nice little addition I guess, but not great you know? Felt rather rushed, and half assed if I'm honest, which I guess it was, since that wasn't really what Minecraft was meant to be about.

The End just felt like another realm to the world, like the nether. It wasn't the actual end though, which is great! I wouldn't want Minecraft to end! Hopefully they could add more additions like The End realm to the game!

Well, even though there's that dialogue at the "end" of the game, the game still goes on. I'm actually happy for that, but they should have a real adventure mode or story mode. Where you start off with the mind of your character going "Where am I?" or something like that, and then the people from the end of the game tell you where you are and your end goal. They could do a lot with the game by making a story line. Then you just go about surviving the game and the story mode will act as a tutorial mode on its own. Then you can have checkpoints or something maybe where if you die you just start over? Naw, that would ruin the survival sandbox aspect. You could have goals or something in the game making it a full 100 win to the story mode. Killing the wither, brewing every potion, using every enchant, or something. I just spit out a bunch of ideas from my mind and I think it would be super cool if it were added to the game. For now, though, it's a great game on its own.

Didn't make sense to me, didn't appeal to me. I didn't like the end, it felt a bit rushed to be honest, and felt heavily inspired by Skyrim at the time. It should be redone into something that takes a lot more effort, and a lot more thinking.

Well, I think it's okay, but I still think they could have done a bit more to make it feel more end game, especially on servers, where you might have a few people trying to kill the dragon together. A lot of people can kill the dragon on their own, so it's relatively easy on a server when you have a few other people helping you

It's not a choice that makes much sense to me to be honest, I always felt Minecraft was THE open-ended game and this hopes to change that.
I think most of the game's success is due to the fact that it doesn't have an end.

Yeah, that's true. In most games after you complete the end goal, that's it and you can't play anymore. It's nice that you can just go straight back into the world and carry on like you were before.

I didn't like it. The boss was tedious and annoying to fight. Wasn't worth the hassle and time I wasted getting to the End.

Well, people were asking for an end to the game. People wanted some sort of story added to it, with the ender dragon and the portals, with the psychological ending with the conversation between the two characters.

Honestly, I felt like it was a little bit rushed. The Ender Dragon only swoops in and bites you, how about adding features such as it being able to spawn tougher Endermen with magic swords, or if it can blow fire at you while flying around?

The ending credits was well written and enthralling, just the final boss battle needed a few adjustments and such.

Usually games like these aren't played for the ending...sae goes for games like D3.

I remember the original release of the end and everyone struggling to finish the game. I ended up spending hours to try and beat the dragon by mining up the obsidian towers. Incredibly inefficient, but it worked and I didn't know of any methods that are far more efficient and well known now that it's been out for a long time.

Wouldn't be all that surprised if Skyrim was their main influence. I mean, didn't it come out after it became the biggest hit that everyone was talking about?

The end is just a shallow way to add an "end" to Minecraft, while it doesn't really have a type of an end. Had they fleshed out the end, and made it very challenging and fun to do, that would have been a great end to Minecraft. The End in it's current state is just a minigame that gets you to Minecraft's credits screen.

I've never tried to beat the game, but I think it's great that they added it. You don't have to do it if you don't want to, but it's there if you want to as well. I think it's difficult, but I don't think it's too rushed like everyone else.

I completely agree with the other posts on this thread. The "End" was too rushed and too easy to accomplish if you have the materials to do so. The entire process would have been a lot more interesting if there were more/harder bosses and possibly more content such as NPCs, weapons, etc. Take the Aether mod for example. The boss concept in that game is excellent in my humble opinion.

I was kind of confused because it was so rushed. I would have thought it would be more difficult and take longer.

When they first introduced End, I feared it would be the literal end. But this definitely isn't the case! The game really just begins when you conquer the enderdragon, the building possibilities expand so much. You have an infinite supply of obsidian and you can build an enderman xp grinder!
