I've replayed the Metro 2033 campaign and ive chosen to be a more stealthy person for various reasons including to analyse how user-friendly the system is and i gladly say its very user-friendly, ive been sneaking in Black Station and on the Front very easy(crounching right next to an enemy and not being detected :D) WITHOUT using the stealth suit with my scoped Hellsing, post any thoughs and possible improvement you would like on the system.

Maybe you could have some screws or something you could trow to distract enemies with.
Also you should be able to perform somkind of silent takedown with your knife.
It may not be the most necessary but it would be a damm cool feature.

They are adding quick-knife or silent takedown to Last Light. I like the screw idea, though (Stalker? Ha ha!) :D

I think they have to increase the time when the soldiers are like "Is there something there?" And also, alarms should be more localized, especially when no audible shot or shout has happened. I think they're working on that anyway, so here's hoping they change nothing else. (Can't believe they want to change the currency system!)

Yeah i got it from stalker :p
I realy like that alarm idea and hopefully they get working correctly in the game. Its a shame if they realy are removing the ammo currency. hopefully the change it back if we complain :D

Yeah, the currency was amazing in Metro 2033. Money was actually useful. Unfortunately, I was never really encouraged to shoot it except in Ranger Hardcore, since there is so much available ammo on the other difficulties. They should really have suggested that you shoot it, forcing you to shoot away your hard earned cash. The choice of life or money was never really forced on you, and so nobody really had to make a choice. Of course, lots of people would get angry if they had to shoot away their money. :D Just my thoughts.

I admit metro's stealth system needs some major overhaul. I am a splinter cell player and knows how to properly sneak past people, I did indeed sneak past black station first time playing without being detected, it wasn't that hard. But on other levels like Frontline, man if I kill I somebody far away the whole platoon is alerted, honestly impossible, these people don't even have radios. They should be looking around to see where I am first instead of all becoming aimbots. I managed to complete Frontline without being detected 2nd time playing, after dying a few times, especially in the Nazi camp. Weirdest thing was when I was pushed aside by a Nazi guy running once, and he didn't even see me.

I think the AI could be more intelligent, I like very much the idea os distracting, could have rocks and pieces of things like screews and fallen spikes in the floor that you can grab andthrow to distract the enemies attention, or like, explode somwthing far away and distract the guards attention to the place of where it exploded and not at you, they dont know where are u, they just know where the thing exploded.
    It could be very intersting

That would make the game too easy.

The A.I seems to have super human vision or hearing most of the time, but if they can just tweak it and make it stable I think it would be perfect.

They did but then "maybe it was a rat or a mouse or something" lol

If you stayed in darkness you'd be ignore but they'd be alert.

Yep, this is true. They should maybe have a "suspicious" zone (which they had, but make it more reliable), and then stay alert for a long time, maybe 2-3 minutes.

Wait, ammo currency is out? Somebody start a petition, that was one of the coolest and most noteworthy things about 2033 that gave it attention!

Also, while stealth was fun in 2033, doing it in your first playthrough was nearly impossible (at least for me). Make it so that enemies don't instantly know exactly where you are every time your throwing knife hits the wall next to a guy, there definitely needs to be a stage for AI programmed into the game where they actually go looking for targets instead of just instantly picking you out from the darkness.

For the bolt distracting ability, maybe give a chance for the guards to see the bolt in flight if goes into the light and is in the FoV of the A.I.

Oops, meant to post in the previous one.

The stealth system in 2033 was kinda wonky, there were times I really should have been spotted like when people walked into me and a few where I shouldn't have been but was. Beyond that an alert like phase for a quick glimpse of movement as opposed to an immediate alarm, the alerts themselves need to be more localized theres no reason everyone in the tunnel knows exactly were I am after killing 1 guy who never got to raise an alarm. That's really my biggest issue with the system once you were detected there was no going back to using stealth since the whole level was on alert and had aim bot skills. Fixing that would really improve things.

Alerts should be localised unless the enemy has access to a signal like those bells after leaving Outpost. If an enemy sees you, I don't think the alert should ever stop for them (you don't just go back to being relaxed after seeing someone sneaking around like in MGS) but, they shouldn't be able to shoot at you accurately in complete darkness and without a torch or NVGs, like they do on some occasions.

It wouldn't make the game too easy, but would create plausible tactics such as putting out the lights in an area to escape, as enemies wouldn't be able to see you (at least until they turned on their torches).

Just an idea that sprung up
If they fixed the problems that existed with funky detection and all that, they could ad some sort of search system.
Like if a single enemie se you and you got away he then go run of and get support and they go back and search for you.
If they are multible persons they immediatly go after you.

I actually wish more games would do this. It's not a new concept, the AI did it back in 2007 with Crysis; unfortunately they forgot about it completely by the time Crysis 2 came out.
