Which system do you think has the best RPG releases in their game library? If you ask me, I think it's the PS1 with its great RPGs like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, and etc. No poll because there are many systems and I might miss out some of them.

I think either Playstation 1 or snes. Both systems had many of the classic RPG's that set the standards for future RPG games.

Actually, the PC has the best RPG lineup. ^_^

Console-wise, I would have to say the SNES and Playstation 1 had the best RPG lineups. However, the RPG in those systems were very limiting. Most of the time, besides having the ability to equip them with different gear, you can't do much more other than that. Stats go up automatically when leveling and only in small handful games, can the player apply attributes manually. There also isn't very much customization. So all in all, I have to say the console RPG's lack in the traditional meaning of "role playing".

The Playstation line is always superior when it comes to Japanese-style RPGs. Nintendo would come second for Japanese RPGs, especially due to having the best selling handheld currently and RPGs making a move towards handhelds.

I would say PC is superior for western RPGs, but very lacking in Japanese RPGs. For example, no Shin Megami Tensei on PC and nothing by Nippon-Ichi Software ever comes to PC.

I tried to generalize it to system lines instead of just one specific system, yeah.

PC has probably the best lineup with games right now, absolutely. But looking back in the day before PC gaming was as big as it is now, SNES and PS1 do have some classic games.

N64....just kidding! SNES or PS1 obviously, not that some other systems don't also have great RPGs.

I would have to say PS1 or PS2. It's really hard because the whole SNES through PS2 era was amazing for JRPGs. It seemed like no matter where you looked there was another great game. Except on N64. I suppose that had Ogre Battle 64 though so it's ok.

I would probably say the PC it has been around the longest.

What are the memorable ones on the PC platform? I'm not too familiar with the PC library because at that time I wasn't into PC gaming yet.

SNES by far. Those RPGs had great stories and good gameplay.

The PC has not only the best, but the biggest RPG lineup :D RPG games started out on the PC first, then moved on to other platforms. Although I much respect the SNES and the PS1 for its awesome RPG games, they don`t come close to the PC in this regard.

I think it's a 3-way tie between the SNES, the PS1 and the PS2. The PS1 had great games like Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy 7-9, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Guardian's Crusade and MosterSeed. The SNES had Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3-6, Earthbound and Zelda: A Link to the Past. The PS2 had FF X and XII, Persona 4, Okami, Shadow Hearts, and Kingdom Hearts!

These three are awesome consoles and these three have great RPGs on their library.

As mentioned in the posts above, Playstation has the best RPG titles. To be honest the only reason I bought PS2 and PS3 is to play the sequels of the RPGs that I had played in Playstation.

I definitely have to go with SNES with PS coming in at a close second.

Hands Down PC of course, PC gamers have the best of bothworlds, where games getting better graphics don't limit us, we can just go out to buy a new graphics card or more Ram or whatever

I think definitely SNES or PS1 has the best RPG's available to them. The reason why I am not saying PC is because there are too many of the old classic RPG's that were exclusive to those platforms and although the PC has quite a few good titles under its hood, the lack of these exclusives pull it back down.

I think you will have to go with PCs when it comes to the best RPG line up. You have games like Witcher,. Elder Scrolls and Diablo that are best played on PC. The recent games of these franchise can also be played on consoles., but you know that PC is the place where you will get the best experience.

Those are all WRPG's though.. You can get a bit of both on consoles. Skyrim barely counts as an RPG anymore..
