The whole tree has to go!

Yes, leaving out a few floating blocks of wood and leaves makes me angry so much. Even more annoying when I have to place a couple of blocks down in order to chop the rest of the wood down.

 

It just feels wrong to now finish off the tree, I mean, it just looks weird. When I cut down trees I tend to finish every last bit of wood until the leaves fall off.

 

What kind of people just leave floaty trees sitting around - How do they live with themselves! I'm a hoarder anyway, I'm not happy unless all of my open slots are filled with sticks and things.

 

If I don't like a tree where it is I would just end up burning it which would burn up the entire biome and leave me tree-less

 

If you get angry you might have an ocd man... Nah just kidding, I think you just used the wrong words. Me, myself, I chop always a part of the tree. Smaller trees get chopped all the way, but big jungle trees get lucky. Way too much work...

I did that on an amplified world once, the outcome was very laggy and I had to end up deleting the world along with my lovely jungle hut

 

omg yes, I hate it when another player joins my world and they take like, the bottom three blocks of wood from the tree and there is a floating top just sitting there....I don't understand.

 

I used to love mods and plugins that would let me destroy trees just by breaking its base with an axe. I would be quite happy if they actually implemented that in the game so the floating trees I leave out of laziness don't drive me nuts.

 

Argh, it drives me nuts when I can't reach that last leaf block that's just floating in mid air.

 

It annoys me a lot as I have slight OCD. I just can't look at a half-destroyed messy forest with weird-looking overhanging blobs of leaves and wood. I it obstructs my view and also makes the place feel messy and deformed. The worst thing is that the trees makes it hard to build around that area due to too many blocks floating in mid air taking up space.

My solution to this is to use the Treecapitator mod, which lets you take down the entire tree at once at the trade-off of longer time required to break the bottom piece of wood in the trunk.

 

I agree! My friends that I play always leave the last block or two of wood on the top and it annoys me a lot. After a couple of sessions, my home base is suddenly surrounded with floating leaves and wood blocks. It really ruins the aesthetics that I'm trying to achieve.

Luckily, we've been downloading mods that chop off the entire tree when you destroy the lowest block. It's extremely useful and has helped me and my friends tidy up the area.

 

I used to play on a server where it was required to chop down the entire tree so there's no ugly floating trees around, so I'm quite used to it. But it doesn't bother me that much if someone doesn't cut down the whole tree.

 

Its not just you man, Its gets to me too, but I guess to me differently cause I'm OCD.

 

I agree. If I just take a little bit of the tree down my OCD starts kicking in and I can't take it.

 

Lol totally. I never feel right unless I chop the whole tree down. In the end, it probably consumes more time trying to do that, but I don't care lol. It makes me happy when it is completely chopped down.

 

Yes! Floating trees looks horrible, and is a bit annoying when I can't chop the rest of the three without getting higher.

Sure, it's not necessary, but it just looks unnatural. Maybe make the logs sort of have like.. sand block physics, once you remove the block underneath, it falls down. That could be a nice solution to the entire problem where you have to place blocks underneath you to actually chop the entire tree down. But, that will become a problem if you're building wooden roofs.

 

Drellius has a great idea going there. I've always thought it was very odd that the rest of the tree would just stay in place after only cutting down the bottom of it. It goes against physics! And with Minecraft being a building world and trying to make most of the building material as realistic as it could be, floating trees just seem a bit ridiculous. Although, I admit, sometimes if I'm just exploring for material and am in a lazy hurry, I will only chop down half of the tree and move on quickly. As long as I don't have to keep looking at it, it doesn't bother me!
