The worst RPG you have ever played.

What's the worst RPG you have ever played on any platform? There are plenty of RPGs you'll hate but which one is the absoulte worst?

 

I really had to think about this one most RPG's I have played were good, but I remember Final Fantasy X-2 I didn't like it was to girly for me.

 

I remember trying Sacred 2 once and turning it off after a few minutes. Never going back to it, it seemed really awful...

 

Yup, Sacred 2. The game was so bad I didn't even border. I had no idea what to do I quit after 10 minutes into the game. It was bad but not the worst I've played, for me it was Risen. The controls were clunky, combat is stiff, graphics were bad, and the VO sucked.

 

I wanna play Risen myself. I hear the PC version is good and I have the PC version on Steam (but haven't bothered downloading)... but the console version is truly awful, apparently. Did you play on console or PC?

 

Probably Alpha Protocol, which was such a shame because the game had so much potential. It had an amazing dialogue system, and probably a great story, but the gameplay was just so clunky that I couldn't stand it. It's unfortunate.

 

Quest 64. Nintendo 64 was a bad console for RPGs and that game proved it. Horrible gameplay and story.

 

I actually kind of like Sacred 2. It's cheesy as hell and I find the bad voice acting kind of charming. I would say that it's among the better of the Diablo clones. That intro with heavy metal music is just pure hilarity as well.

 

I second Quest 64. It's really really bad. It was supposed to be an FF alternative. Yeah, it's pretty crap and at the time FF was fantastic so it's definitely different..

 

Oh my god, I just remembered this massive turd. The localized version doesn't even have an ending! Now this is a truly terrible game. It was supossed to be an FF alternative? Delirious developer...

 

I never played Scared 2 sounds like its really bad now I kind of want to watch an lp on it to see how bad it is.

 

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning... Why? IDK exactly, maybe it was because of it's cartoony/anime design, also aiming with a bow was so lame. I played it about 2-3 hours then I quit. Never bothered to open it again...

 

Uhm, Dragon Quest VII. I'm so sorry fans of thE Dragon Quest series. i really wasn't able to enjoy this game. I saw that the reviews were very high. But for me, I cannot tolerate the ugliness of the game's graphics. I feel that the crappy graphics definitely have taken away a lot of the fun factor from playing the game. Thus, I consider it the worst RPG I have played.

 

Werewolf: The Apocalypse. That game was beyond horrible, I despised it with a passion.

 

I remember buying that game when I was younger and there's one thing I can tell you about it.... complete and utter trash.

 

Cartoony/anime style? Personally, I don't see how it was cartoony/anime styled. World of Warcraft would be considered cartoon. Maple Story would be considered very cartoony.

I must have played roughly 50-6o hours total before I stopped. Way too many quests to do and easily get lost with the main quest.

I would say my most disappointing/worst RPG experience would be with Fable The Lost Chapters. Someone highly recommended it and so I bought it on Steam foor $5. I played it for about 2 hours, just to give it a chance, but got very turned off from the very linear game play and lots of invisible walls, which was also something I hated about Kingdoms of Amalur.

 

Two Worlds for the 360 is awful. Not even "poor man's Oblivion" is an apt enough description of that clunker.

 

I'd have to say Runescape's new Evolution of Combat. Imo, and i'm sure anyone who used to play would agree, they completely destroyed what the game was and the unique flavor it had to it. Now it's just a shitty version of any other MMORPG out there.

 

Runescape is definitely off the list nowadays. And I never thought it was that cool to begin with.

 

Not that it was anything spectacular to begin with, atleast it was something to do. I mean, it's the first MMORPG i'm sure a lot of people had ever even touched, and for them to just trash the game completely and make it just another shitty clone of a better game, it's really an insult to their once-loyal player base. But of course, they fucked up a lot along the way. They deemed real-world trading a bad enough issue to prevent players from being able to trade with each other for about 4 years. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
