Yeah, so I was playing Metro, thinking about how awesome the suits there looks, so I thought "Why not thirdperson?".
I know we're not suppose to see Artyom that much, but it would be pretty cool if they made some good player animations.
Using thirdperson would be a whole lot more difficult than firstperson, so it'd probably be useful after getting tired of completing it a couple of times.
What do you guys think about this? Should they add it to Last Light before it comes out?

they might do some missions where you "watch" yourself as 3rd person etc.
Yea that would be really cool. I would like that in STALKER too! xD

As a main part of the game... no, it wouldn't work. :p Metro 2033 is all about atmosphere and immersing the player into the experience. One of the reasons why Artyom doesn't say much in the game is so that the player feels like he or she is Artyom, that's why everything is from first-person and you can see the vision change when you don your gas mask, reload your weapon and you'll see that Artyom actually looks at it; it's all there to immerse. Gameplay from a third person perspective could completely ruin this fantastic feeling. However, maybe if they included it as an unlockable bonus after completing the game?

Unless Last Light is going to have a little bit more of an open atmosphere.
And I'm thinking exactly the same thing, Bamul :D

I totally totally agree! Other games have third person, so let them keep it. Metro should be all first-person, all the way.

I totally agree that Metro wouldn't be Metro. But after completing the game a good ten times, I think it would feel... refreshing?... with some third-person. You've got to admit that seeing yourself while playing is a little awesome, especially when you look so awesome in Metro.

Hmm, yeah, there were times when I wanted to see Artyom, (you did see his back in one or two cutscenes), but I think it's more work than it's really worth. With third person comes a whole new camera system, extra animation, and all sorts of issues.

maybe you could unlock diffrent difficulties (like Ranger-Easy, Ranger HArdcore, Ranger-whatever-you-want-to-call-it mode), but one for 3rd person mode. Gonna be alot harder that way, trying to fight your way against mutants without aiming down the sight :p

That's a fair point. When standing close to walls, in confined environments or going around corners, the camera would zoom in so that it didn't clip through structures. This would limit your vision to seeing just Artyom's back and, possibly, completely break you out of immersion.

Yep, the camera would be screwing around a lot, and this would ultimately destroy the game.
