I've heard varied responses on the ports of Minecraft for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and 4 and the like. I've personally played Minecraft on the Xbox 360 and didn't care for it much. I didn't enjoy the UI and crafting system, but that is likely because I'm so used to the pc controls. It was still a pleasant game for those without computers, my brother plays it daily and really enjoys it. I haven't had the chance to try it for PS3 and doubt I will.

Although it is still less updated than the PC version, the gap is quickly disappearing. While they still do not have modding support or dedicated servers, it can still be a fun experience if you want to sit with a friend and build. Minecraft for the Xbox 360 provides up to 4 player split-screen if you have an HDTV compatible TV.

So in short, what do you think of Minecraft on consoles?

Think of it this way, that decides if you like it or not. I first got Minecraft on Xbox 360 and I liked it. Then I found out that there is a PC version and it has better stuff.

There is an inovation and something new for the console players. But the PC version is much better, there are more updates and I tried playing Minecraft with a controller but I didn't got used to it. In my opinion it is the type of game meant to be played with a mouse and keyboard.

PC version will always be better with more content, mods, etc. Sometimes it's just nice to sit back on the couch with a controller and play split screen, though.

The PC version is way better in my opinion, because there's way more content in the moment and the console editions have got worse controls than the PC edition in my opinion.

I agree that the controls are god awful on consoles. I'm normally a console gamer as well but the UI was just awful. It could be because I'm used to PC minecraft but it just looks horrible to me.

What I can say that it's a gimped version of PC's Minecraft. The community isn't as big as the PC one I think. I've been there for sometime and the contents I see can't even compare. Not to mention, the controls are not very intuitive for a game such as this.

This describes how I feel about the console version. I discovered it on the xbox and soon after heard about the PC version. I now plan on buying the PC version soon after seeing how limited and not up to date the console version is. That said, I will still probably play both because most of my friends are on console.

I've only played on the pc, which is where I play 99% of games anyway. So for me this is the most natural platform.
My brother started playing minecraft on the pc but then also bought it for his PS3 and now plays a bit on both. I guess it's about what you are used to.

I believe in choices. So if Minecraft is being made available for consoles, it means more people can enjoy the game. I prefer PC gaming and though I have owned consoles in the past, they become dust collectors and I eventually sell them off.

I've never tried it for consoles, but I can't imagine I would like it as much as I do on PC. Using a gamepad to play sounds very limiting, while a keyboard offers much more control (I would think). Also, the many mods available for PC makes it much more worth it. Xbox has mods I think, but not as many and they require payment from what I've seen.

I absolutely cannot stand the console version of Minecraft. I have been an avid Minecraft on PC player for a very long time and the keyboard is just so much better than a controller for this game. Normally though, i am a PS# player for my fps games like the Battlefield series. But when it comes to Minecraft i have to have my keyboard and mouse. The interface seems to be a whole lot better on PC as well as the crafting. I feel as if the crafting on the Xbox360 is easy mode and it doesn't give the game the same feel.

I played on Xbox 360 first, so that's really my preferred format. I eventually played on my laptop, but I really prefer the simplicity of gaming on a console in general. I understand I might not be getting the full experience, but I enjoy myself and that's all that really matters.

This is actually the first time I've seen someone that prefers the console version when they have access to the PC version. I've always thought the PC version is the best with more features and more complete. It's good that you're enjoying yourself though, I understand too that sometimes simplicity is good.

I think that this probably has a lot to do with which version you started with first. I have played on a console and PC. I love the PC version, and tolerate the console version.

I like both versions. I like the PC version more, though. Mainly because you can install mods and play on servers with plugins. I usually play on PC and not on the console.

I prefer the PC version, but I'm big into modding and stuff. I do have it on my 360, I just rarely play it. I like my custom skin, and my modding, and the frequent updates too much! My 360 owning friends who didn't play it before, don't want to try the PC edition after they get the console one, so I think it's probably a "what you started with" issue. Either way, more Minecraft players taking over the world is always a good thing. :D

I trust Mojang to keep doing a quality job. Especially watching the work on the mobile platform with Pocket Edition. The choice they made to sell it outright instead of mini-transactions and do nice things for the players is a great business practice. Or in internet speak: "Shut up and take my money!"
