Thousand Arms - a unique RPG during its time

Hey PS1 fanboys, have you played the RPG Tousand Arms by Atlus before? It was a solid RPG game with top down perspective during exploration, a side scrolling (versus game) perspective during combat, and a dating simulation added to the mix. Yes, the game was quirky but it was fun to play. It was pretty intriguing as well. The inclusion of a dating sim within the game added to its uniqueness. I loved every bit of it.

What are your thoughts on the game?

I never played it, but a dating simulation is nothing I can never really see myself getting into especially if it is required.

I am a big fan of Atlus, and I love a lot of their games :)
The Shin Megami Tensei games, Persona games, and Radiant Historia are some of my favourites.
And I am ashamed of myself for not knowing about this game until now......
The game really seems interesting from a quick search.
A somewhat pervy protagonist who has to date as many ladies as possible to save the world ?!
I am definitely checking this out :)
Thanks for telling us about this!

I've heard of this game before. It has the elements of a Visual Novel (a genre which I'm also into), but for some reason I just can't seem to get myself to play this game back then. But hell, I did play Utawarerumono, which is kinda similar with respect to the harem aspect, so I might give it a shot this time. :D

Yes I remember the game back on PS1 but I never played it I think. The game never got a sequel, did it not? I didn't like it then but given that I have changed over the years, I may love it now. Too bad, this game and many others do not get as much love as Final Fantasy.

Yeah, the Final Fantasy games got all the love back then. It seemed as though the lesser known RPGs were pushed aside and shoved into a corner. It's a shame, there were a lot of great RPGs on the PS1 that would have been great if made into a series too.

As for Thousand Arms, maybe people were just turned off by its graphics. It didn't have good looking graphics when roaming around towns. The story was great though. It was quirky and fun and engaging. :D
