Three-Year Development Cycle For CoD Games

    Advanced Warfare was the first game in Call of Duty's new three-year development cycle. The dev cycle is implemented in order to give the developers more time to polish the game and make them more unique compared to past CoD Games. I think it paid off wonderfully with Advanced Warfare, and I'm excited to see what can be done in the next CoD games.

    Considering of all the updates they have done on the game, I doubt they really worked on the game for 3 years. The BAL was so overpowered that there is no way for 3 years they didn't realize this.

    I think the making of the games and using polygons takes time too get things right, and a lot of ideas do get thrown out which may work but in the game play may not suit the game. I am not surprised it takes 3 years to make this sort of game, deciding what the fans want, and what is their purpose also must be decided and making sure the game is going to do well in the sales and people buying them is important. There must a time frame they do things, and need to work hard on the game so when it is released than it will look good and sell well is a important factor.

    Given the problems Advanced Warfare had at launch, and the problems it still has, which devs can't even iron out with patches now, it doesn't seem to be helping much. Sure, it matters if a game gets more development time, but it also matters who develops it. You could give Sledgehammer Games 10 years and they wouldn't be able to create a better game than Advanced Warfare was.

    Well, I think it will make the series a lot better, however, I didn't feel the same way about Advanced Warfare. I actually feel that it's the worst CoD out (it's not horrible though, I still play it often)

    However, I want to see what comes out in the future, I think as long as they don't make it TOO futuristic (not really a fan of the Advanced Warfare exo suits and such), it will be good.

    The game is really neat, except from a few bugs that persist from launch date, I really expect that they start diversifying a little more their games, since this CoD feels like the last installment, but a little more in the future. Hope a 3-year dev cycle helps.

    As time goes on, I see the developers taking full advantage of the extra time to create the CoD games of the future.

    I could be that they're making the game too "cerebral"---focusing so much on the storyline that it overpowers their resolve to be true to the laws of physics o_O
