    That's a really vague question.

Seeing as this is an RPG-related forum, I'll suggest Skyrim, Borderlands 2 and...a Bioshock game. Obviously, games like Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2, TF2, Garry's Mod, Civ 5, etc. are staples, but I think that if you browse this forum and you haven't played at least one of those three games listed...you need to get to work!

Depends on the genre, I would advise anyone to try out Portal (1 & 2), The Witcher, Star Wars and Civ 5. That's pretty vague indeed.

I'd go with the Witcher 3, Skyrim, and Dark Souls 2. This runs the gamut of different world mythologies and combat systems and all of them are big budget successes with a massive amount of content. Those would definitely be my must haves for PC RPGs.

I would have to say Battlefield 4, CS:GO, and the newest COD game for FPS genre.

For mmorpg; rift, world of warcraft, and guild wars 2

In the ARPG genre: Diablo 2, Path of Exile, and possibly one of the new upcoming ones that look good.

My Top three RPG games you MUST have in your repertoire will be:
    1. Skyrim (Massive open world, literally an endless amount of content. Mods. SO MANY MODS.)
    2. The Witcher 3 (huge open world segments. Plethora of monsters. Amazingly crafted questlines. Fluid and engrossing combat. YOUR CHOICES ALMOST ALWAYS AFFECTS THE WORLD)
    3. Dragon Age: Origins (Wonderful questlines. Amazing companions. Kinda dull,b ut nonetheless enjoyable combat. Sense of purpose in the game world.)

For RPS, you have to include Skyrim and Witcher 3. I would probably add an older title to the list, something like Neverwinter Nights or Baulder“s gate.

Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Knights of the Old Republic.

The top three PC games that I would have would be Deus Ex (no explanation needed), Skyrim and Neverwinter Nights (I just stared to replay and now I'm currently hooked to it)

Haven't played Neverwinter Nights. I need something new to sustain me during the weekends. I think I'll get the platinum edition of the game and see how it goes.

You can get it on GOG for under $10. It is a weird set up though.

    Main game = levels 1-20
    First expansion = levels 1-16
    Second expansion = levels 16-25

The first expansion basically starts over and is meant to be played with a completely new character. The second expansion ( underdark) is used to continue the character from the main game or the first expansion.

Or you can play differently like I do and go back and forth. I create a character and play the first chapter of the main game, then export that character and play the first chapter of the first expansion... then go back and do the second chapter of the main game etc.

You need to narrow it down to which category of PC games. There are thousands if not tens thousands of PC based video games out there. Some people only like to play FPS, some others only like to play RTS, and there are the ones who only like to play RPG or MMORPG. "Top 3" by what order? Most sales? Or highest rated? Or just "your favorite 3"? :)

Well, you've actually written everything you just said, so I'll just double down on this. I'd also like to add the series behind these games are also amazing. One more that I'd like to add to consideration (although not a top 3 for me) is Mass Effect trilogy. Without a doubt a defining sci-fi RPG.

ME trilogy is certainly one for the list. One of the best sci-fi rpgs out there for sure.

I would say Skyrim, The Witcher 3 and Crusader Kings II. But these are just my tastes.

PC exclusive? I'd go with Valve games like Portal 2, Half life 2 and Dota 2. (No 3's to be seen here :p)

For me, it would be league, Counterstrike, and GTA. Those games are very easy to replay and every time you boot it up and play you always end up doing something new. Also if you play them alternately you'll have less of a chance of getting sick of any one of them so I'd definitely recommend those three.

Half-life is more than just one game. It has lots of games based on it.
Back in the old days with Half-life (1), there were Counter-Strike, Teamfotress, Firearms, Day of Defeat, Wanted, etc. all of them were based on Half-Life engine and were fun to play with. Too bad when they moved to Half-Life 2, some of the fun mods were no longer played.

Once upon a time all my gaming time were spent on playing Half-Life based games. Until Battlefield 1942 came along.
