    Hidden Treasures and other Tidbits

Note: I (tried to) change the thread title to Hidden Treasures and other Tidbits as I've found some more little things that are interesting but probably don't warrant their own thread.

Ten Ton Hammer (TTH) has a review up on one of the new Hidden Treasures (Anet talked about it in the Beta Development Update) and the Dye system.

    http://www.tentonhammer.com/gw2/previews/press-beta-event-impressions

The review includes a short video - hehe some devs are sure having fun with jump mechanics. The explorer in me is very excited that little gems like these will be discoverable. Being jump challenged I'm just a bit worried that way too many of them will be beyond my capabilities.

Ya this is the cool little stuff that really fleshes out game worlds.

I love exploring game worlds and am always disappointed when I find an area that looks like you can explore it but has an invisible boundry. I love when games incorporate things like we are seeing in this vid that cater to the explorer. Little puzzles hidden here or there are fun, a maze you have to jump through or race through on a timer to get a hidden chest. Those sorts of things encourage folks to explore these huge, gorgeous worlds that dev's have taken months and years of their time and energy to create that a lot of times get taken for granted.

On the same note this is why I think Anet is so smart with the underwater combat and exploration system. Water is usually something that we dont do much with in most mmo's. Maybe there's a transport route that goes underwater or a puzzle/chest in a lake somewhere but never usually a fully fleshed out environment with its own mechanics.

Was listening to this podcast http://www.guildwarsinsider.com/tales-tyria-19b-day-nda-died/ today and they talked about Runes - I need to find out more information on them because they sound very interesting but basically they are a way to improve your gear that doesn't appear to require a crafter.

I also watched the Yogscast videos http://www.youtube.com/user/BlueXephos?feature=watch last night and at one point (sorry went through all of them and can't remember which one, think it was one of the Charr ones) they showed off the town clothes slot which got me to wondering if crafters can make town clothes.

Exactly though I laughed at one of the Kotaku reviews because the guy couldn't jump into the pit in Divinity's Reach no matter how hard he tried, for an hour - seen lots of other episodes of folks jumping to their deaths so Divinity's Reach must be special:)

Its cool to see that Anet spends so much time on these small little things i dont care if it takes them longer to complete the game cus the game will be more complete with all this little cool stuff.
They had something similar in gw1 especially nightfall, you had some treasures to find there.
Awseome they worked on this treasure aspect and gotten a little deeper into it.

Cant wait to explore the new Tyria and find some of those fine treasures, they should also implement some faketreasures wityh funny stuff. Love to hear people like " damm dude, i opened this chest that i found yesterday.. and you know what was in it? FRKN bunny ears!! :p i know it sounds silly.. but something like that.

Would be cool if they( the treasures) were somewhat hard to get, so im glad to hear thers gonna be jumping involved and stuff..

Yes, runes were also in GW1 and were either bought from an npc or taken from dropped gear through use of a salvage kit.

The runes have certain stats such as the superior vigor in the old game that granted +50 health if you were wearing the armour the rune was inscribed onto. :)

However, whether or not runes will be exactly the same in GW2 is another question. :)
