Basic Video game advance technology is improving quickly. Processors are becoming much faster, and so are the games. This has not always been the case with turn-based strategy games, which were always thought to be a bit slower, and maybe less exciting. They were reminiscent of the board games with dice and individual pieces, but the newer turn-based strategy games require more reflex action and less time spent in thinking, and now they are even more interactive.

I like turn games, without an optimal strategy. Unfortunately, many games nowadays seem to have strategies that lead you to winning every time. I like games like Risk instead:p

Turn based games are really fun. When you play someone who is better than you though it is really easy to get beat. Thats no fun!

Turn based games will always have an audience. They may get better graphicaly in time but the essence of tactics and strategy will always appeal to a certain type of player. I'm still finding ways of beating 'Rome:Total War' now and I've never read an optimal strategy guide for it yet!!

I love turn based stratagey games. Games like Civ and Rome:Total War are great the only thing that really is growing with them is the graphics and user interface at this point. Well some playability portions like in Rome such as the battlefield can also lead to Improvement in the genera. Although the basic format is pretty solid throughout the variety of games.

I'm a big fan of turned based strategy games. I'm really into Sid Meire's Civilization games and I used to play a few Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. I also used to play a lot of Might and Magic Heroes and Worms when I was younger. Wish there was more good turn based strategy games to play.

Civilization was definite my favorite of the TBS games. I used to occupy myself for weeks with that game.

If any of you are looking for some good turn-based strategy action, but also much detail and history-based accuracy, I suggest you look into grand strategy games(GSG). They are old as PC gaming itself, but there has recently been a new breed of games that are high quality, as well as lots of modding and an active community. I would recommend that you try Europa Universalis, which is good starting point for a beginner, also Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron, but those are a little more advanced. Pretty much anything made by Paradox.

When I was younger I loved playing turn based games I don't know to many games that fit into that category as far as new games go but from time to time I play old turn based games to this day.

I also like turn based games. Frankly, I'm quite a slow person in real life so having to plan every move in real time is not very fun for me. I like to take my time and plan my moves before executing them. This is the reason why I always like the old RPGs more than the new ones despite them performing better.

I love them! Currently playing both Civ5 and Hearts of Iron... both are so great.
I also really love turn based action games but unfortunately not many good ones are around.

I'm currently playing Shogun Total War 2. I'm a fan of the Total War series. I started out with Medieval Total War before playing Shogun Total War. I always thought it would be great if they can do the similar gameplay they did in Medieval Total War 2 with Shogun Total War, and I'm glad they did. :)

Total War all the way! That is one of my favorite series. I've bought every one. Shogun was perhaps my most my cherished iteration of the game but Medieval was also quite good if only because the modding community was so effective at getting every last bit of enjoyment out of it.

Do any of you guys know of games similar to Crusader Kings 2? And I mean, games that use family trees and perks. Something like a strategy/rpg hybrid.

Turn based games are something I enjoy. Perhaps that comes from spending a lot of time as a child in a place without power (summer place). Games that required turns were the staple diet up there. Civilization is a good one. I like the use of strategy, but prefer that there be more than one potentially successful strategy. These also are a nice diversion from the MMOs when they become a little too tiring.

I like all kinds of games and am opened to playing anything at least once. Turned based games are fantastic. I love it in RPG's and strategy games such as Fallout series, Baldur's Gate series and Battle Isle series. I'm constantly on the look out for similar games. I saw that Wasteland 2 is probably like that, but $60 is too steep for me at the moment.

I would recommend Shadowrun. It is kind of cheap and it has just received a new expansion pack. The gameplay is classic turn-based, and the view is isometric, just like in Baldur`s Gate/Fallout. If you are into these kind of games, you will love it. Wasteland 2 will get cheaper for sure, the current $60 is only for those who want to play the early beta.

I was considering it, when I saw the DLC for it that improves on the overall game play and add new content. Thanks for reminding me though. I was about to give up. ^_^

I wish more Turn-Based strategy games would come back. They were amazingly fun to play with friends.
