So the guys upstairs have been pondering about a weapon slot system and have suggested that they might implement 3 "universal slots" for weapons.

    See here: http://www.lastlightforum.com/showthread.php?t=864

So that means you could carry any 3 weapons you want anytime in the game.

What do you think? Post opinions and make sure to vote on the poll. thx.

Same opinion as before. 2 Free slots, but a pistol slot and a knife slot. (I think getting rid of the knife is a really silly move.)

I like how the old system works. first slot for pistol/revolver, second slot for SMG/AR and third one for shotgun/pneumatic. it's more balanced, imho.

The old system was fine as it is but I don't mind 2 universal slots as long there is a seperate pistol an knife slot.

I vote for 2 universal slots. I think it makes the most sense in a real world way, as well as power balancing for the game. 3 slots is too much and how could a human carry 3 heavy weapons at the same time in reality while sprinting around.

Come to think of it, they could go all out and add in weapon weight. So if you choose to use more then 1 heavy weapon you are unable to sprint or sneak effectively.
    ~just an idea.

Hope to see more votes on this poll soon.

I voted original, although I'm open to "two universal slots and a pistol slot".

Ya I would be 100% cool with having the old system back again too, but I have a feeling they want to introduce at least a couple universal slots to cater to a larger audience....:(

Which is why those 3 universal slots should remain an option.

In fact, I've got a better idea! Why not tie those universal slots to a difficulty level?
    Easy: 3 universal slots
    Normal: 2 universal slots
    Hard: 1 universal slot
    Ranger: old system

These two, great ideas. Should really be that way. Although it is actually possible to carry two heavy weapons, a pistol, a couple of gasmasks, medkits, throwing knives, knife, and different grenades, but in reality it'd slow you down a lot and also make you make more sound when you move. Something I think is a good idea, is to be able to choose for yourself, whether you want to be a little overpowered compared to others, or if you want to be sneaky and stealthy with a few weapons. You shouldn't be forced to have one of each in every slot, but you should be able to do so if you'd want to. That's my opinion, so I voted for the old system, just with the ability to drop weapons and therefor gain speed and stealthiness.

Multiple heavy weapons = more weapon clatter = less chance to go stealth unless you buy a stealth suit. Players should always be conscious about their decisions in Metro, the game should be intelligent so if people do wish to go John Rambo then they will be punished for it or atleast it should be made more difficult for them when facing factions. Also when facing lurkers or fast mutants you should be less agile. But whether 4A have included this I doubt it.

They could have made single player awesome since they have been giving extra time but if this opportunity was missed for a multiplayer mode which we know nothing about yet or if it turns out to be rubbish then that is unforgivable imo.

Ya I hope to god they don't waste all this time on multiplayer without giving the single player that extra needed polish. I really couldn't care less about multiplayer anyways.

Weapon weight, speed and stealth factors could be really cool additions to the game, maybe only have them in hardcore + modes?

I really like the idea cerberus had about tieing universal slots to difficulty modes. +1 cerberus:laugh:

    Nice signature quote.

On topic, so I assume you played M33. Did you find the weapon system to be bad or too constricting?

The idea of weight is cool and all, but doesn't work for Metro.

Maybe for something like ARMA but a good suspense of belief is needed in Metro. For example, why is sleath armour a lether jacket and converse?

Doesn't make sense, and stuff like weight can get REALLY complicated for players and developers, especially if it affects sleath.

Not really, just make it so if you have 2 of said weapons equip then you cannot sprint. Only talking heavy weapons here. Not that complicated...

Oops, I thought this was a hl forum!
    jk

I never had any problems with the system but when I saw the thread header I instantly liked the idea of slots for any weapon.

Do you think you would find yourself using a pistol if you have 3 universal slots?
