My favorite unpopular character in Final Fantasy has to be Snow Villiers from FFXIII. His cheerful attitude was great and he's constantly active trying to make things better. Sure he can be a tad annoying with his repetition about being a hero and saving Serah, but he's constantly working to make situations better. He was a good contrast to the more serious and moody Lightning. Despite being at odds with Lightning most of the game, even she eventually realizes he's a cool guy with good intentions even if his mannerisms might be repetitive and annoying at times. I have not played Lightning Returns yet, however. I hear he changes a lot in it, becomes a lot more serious and is basically a different character, which really shows how messed up the world has become.
I also prefer Snow Villiers over others. However, I haven't played Final Fantasy in a long time, maybe I should wipe the dust away of it and try again.
I don't quite understand the boundaries of "unpopular" characters here, but i'd just go with Cid, its fun to watch him get tailored in between series of the game.
Do you consider Quina Quen as an unpopular character? If you don't know who she is, then I think she's unpopular. Quina is a character in Final Fantasy IX. She loves frogs and has an unusual look: She looks kinda creepy and scary but she is also kinda quirky. I liked using her as a character in FFIX and I had fun with her minigame.
I have to say Tidus is my favorite unpopular character. (Seriously, people wrote him off for ONE 3 minutes scene?!) He's related about in the fact that he wants to be out of his father's shadow. He hates his father for worrying his mom, of course he's not going to like him whenever he was put down by him. It's only reasonable in the fact that it'll only grow since he was just a kid that only saw one side of him instead of the changes he went through when he traveled with Auron and Braska. His cheerful attitude against the odds are refreshing and he's just like the sun. Go, Tidus!
Tidus is acceptable. I mean I don't like him but I don't dislike him to the point that most people do. He kind of just is. There's times where he has his strong points and then there's times where you can't help but wonder if he's 12. I think he's a pale carry over of Zidane if that's what the developers were going for.
Quina is a unpopular character? That surprise me xS Yeah, maybe her looks are pretty strange, but I've laughted A LOT with her. When she "get married" with vivi was simply epic, and when in the middle of the game she just goes out from the party searching for frogs and simply dissapears...I'm stil laughting, she's so random xD
I suppose I'd have to say Zidaine from IX (not the watered down horrendous version of him from that one handheld game.) I don't know if it's because IX isn't a popular game or if it's because Zidaine is pretty much a pervert, but he doesn't get as much love as other Final Fantasy Protagonists.
Mine would be Steiner. I know he's pretty popular and quite indispensable regarding gameplay, but in terms of fan art produced, or popular media of him outside the game is pretty stale so I think he's an unpopular character. I like him because of all the comedic moments he provide and his blind chivalry as well, hehe. Mesh him up with Zidane, and hell, I had several times of insane laughter during the time I was playing Final Fantasy IX.
Oh my gosh, I absolutely love her! She's definitely a favorite of mine, too! She just looks a little cute in an odd way, but definitely left an impression on me since I was a little gal.
