How do people feel about the upcoming release of Minecraft on Xbox One and Playstation 4. I think it's great that Minecraft is available on so many platforms. Neither console has a large stable of good arcade games yet, so I'm sure Minecraft will get huge sales right out of the gate. What do you think they can do to make this release unique for people who have already played the game?

I agree that it is a very positive thing that Minecraft is present on multiple platforms, but I don't think they can create a unique experience from the parent game without it not being Minecraft anymore. There's no reason to buy it if you already have Minecraft, and I'm not sure that there'll be a ton of sales given that most people who would buy it on a new console probably have Minecraft already.

Yes this is my concern as well really. One thing that can be said is that the PS4, XB1 version of Minecraft is being put together by a new development studio other than the original by Mojang. I wonder how much leeway they would be given to implement something exclusive that would help to show off the power of these new consoles. Or if we will just get a straight port. I guess we will find out soon.

I also share your concern. Although I will buy the game for PS4 but i'm not too sure the community will be as good as on the PC! I just hope the game feels as smooth and just generally... minecrafty haha.

I've never understood the desire to play Minecraft on a console, to be honest. It will run on a pretty low-end PC (I played in on an old box running Win XP for years), and, in my mind, game play suffers because of the limitations of the console hardware, in the form of reduced world size, etc. A positive side of it is that it introduces new players to a great game, so in that regard, releases for PS4 and XB1 are a good thing.

I hope that the PS4 and X1 versions are going to have the same contents as the PC version and not a stripped down one like the Xbox 360 version. Generally, it's great to see Minecraft on more platforms so that even console players can join in the fun.

They won't. I'm pretty sure they will keep it PC only so new adopters from the new gen of consoles will buy two copies. One on a console that acts as a demo for the full PC version.

I see those as the try me games. If you like them buy the one on the PC. That is how I got into Minecraft.

Agreed. I think its popular belief that minecraft is best played on the PC!

I feel that there are really no down-sides. As long as it sells well and it is good port, nothing else really matters. I wish Mojang all the best on their new endeavour into next-gen consoles. I do hope they take advantage of the high specs on the X-BONE and PS4.
