Vel'Koz - your thoughts?

    In my opinion this champion was created purely to counter Ziggs since at the moment Ziggs is dominating the middle and the tournament "life" has become rather stale.
    The champion is obviously made for highly skilled players since pretty much all his skills are skillshots and I can bet that after a month the champion won't be seen much in normal or ranked plays only in tournaments.

    Anyway for those of you who haven't had the chance to see him here is the spotlight:

    Vel'Koz isn't that hard to play, I mean I bought him yesterday and I played my first game with him on ranked and I actually carried that game. The only hard spell to use on Vel'Koz I think is his 'q' because it splits at a 90 degrees angle and you can control where to split.

    Well it depends against what kind of opponents you play. I'm playing mostly vs plat/diamond and even challenger from time to time and they are a lot better at avoiding than people that are silver/gold. I personally love skillshot champs and pretty much all the champs I play are this type of champs as well. Still unlike other AP carries when you are aiming to hit someone at the back during a fight it will be a lot harder than Syndra for example which casts the spells directly at you.

    Indeed, it would be harder to aim at someone but the burst damage you deal will be lethal. And yes, I know people from platinum/diamond/challenger know how to avoid spells. I am in diamond 1 so I think they knew how to avoid spells.

    Yeah his burst damage is quite lethat. I'd really love to see him on some of the tournaments that are currently going - LCS and Challenger series I believe are the ones that are ongoing at the moment?

    Very squishy, good point about countering Ziggs though. I know for a fact how sick I am of him popping up in every single tournament/ranked game.

    Yeah games without Ziggs have become quite rare and if for some reason there is no Ziggs it's usually a melee champ at mid with no caster on either team. I'd like it if they add few more champions to diversify the current tournament games, because 95% of the times it's the same champions nonstop. It's gotten a bit boring.

    He's okay. I think he is balanced because while he does a huge burst damage it's all skill shots, so it's a little hard to hit with all the spells in one burst. I really need to try it!

    Yeah I believe he has good balance between dps and skilshot/being squishy lol :p
    Still I'd love to see some decent tanky support or tank being released next.

    In the right hands Vel can be extremely potent. It takes quite a bit of skill to land everything, and you have to position very well to maximize your damage. I'm not really too much of a midlaner so I don't have too much personal experience with him though. From what I've seen of him, he looks a pretty balanced champ at this point.

    MMmmm I don't really grasp the playstyle of Vel'Koz or how other call him Velcro, but I did play him as a support, and as he holds lots of utility he can actually impact both lane phase and late game scenarios...Although I only tried him in this Team builder thingie and not in rank gameplay.

    I hate Vel'Koz. His lasers are really stupid. I feel that he can have potential in lane, but he can be abused really easily because of his lack of mobility. He does have some CC, but they're not the good ones. His slow is really easy to dodge, and so is his knock back. Also, his ultimate can be interrupted quite easily, so positioning is really important.

    I play Vel'Koz, he has plenty of skillshots making him good mid game. It isn't really what you call 'OP' late game. It falls off.
    Vel'Koz can just combo W,Q,E,W for insta kills in mid lane. But when late game, he doesn't do much damage, and more champions get tankier late.
    Vel'Koz CAN be good late-game if you build right and you play him correctly.
