Started as a free-t0-play player but since I got enamored with the game so much I decided to get a 3-month VIP subscription. There are also practical matters to this decision because there are many perks open to you even if you subscription expires. Most notable, and the main reasons I went VIP are:

    1. Elimination of gold cap for players
    2. All trait slots get unlocked
    3. Additional character slots
    4. Free turbine points during the subscription period (1500 TP for 3 months)

In this case, I feel that I'm all set even if I decide to cancel my subscription after three months. True, these perks could be unlocked using F2P accounts but a good amount of grinding is needed. Frankly, I just decided to pay a little so that I won't waste my time so much.

So, for current and previous VIP players, why did you decide to subscribe?

I started before free to play when when subscribing was the only option. I just decided to keep my subscription because I did not want to limit myself after being used to be able to do everything. I did not want to grind for the tp to unlock things and would rather get the free tp every month with a subscription. It was a better deal to pay the subscription than to go free to play buy all of the stuff separately.

The gold cap and free turbine points was the main reason I became VIP back in the day. The additional character slots were nice but I didn't have much time to devote to creating that many characters. The turbine points did help out with getting a horse in the game, which made travelling around much, much easier.

Gold cap and much more got me to finally sign up as VIP. I didn't update my subscription, though, for a long time. Waiting on ESO to come out! :)
