How cool is that! Imagine walking around in the world of Minecraft via Oculus Rift or the ones Sony and MS are working on. Kind of awesome, don't you think?

I think this would be pretty awesome! Then again, any game like this would be amazing.

It would definitely be quite interesting, but I wonder how players would control the actions of the character. Would people wear gloves that attach via USB? How about walking? Anyway those technical issues will be sorted out somehow. However, the idea really intrigues me.

I don't know if it would work. The fact of the matter is you'd probably be better buying real bricks and putting them to use building anything. It's to the point do you really want to waste so much energy messing around in a game when you could easily go create anything with roughly the same effort.

By that argument, all the time we spend playing Minecraft could be better spent learning how to paint or sculpt, and create real works of art rather than endless virtual ones.

At least we could do it in the comfort of our home without having to do it under the hot sun. We can build anything without actually needing the space to build. Also, we don't have to pay for materials. Only thing I see problematic is getting entangled in the wires of these VR visors because we'll turn around a lot.

There are things like a treadmill that you can go and and it will keep you still and moving as well.

Good point, I like to be lazy when i play games! I was never a fan of the Wii because of it! I just wanna relax, not start walking and jumping around!

Yes but it's really just adding to the physical excursion and then there is the fact that treadmills are unidirectional. How is it meant to work if you forget and take a step to the side.

I really don't feel like there is a market for this. It just seems like people are going to get hurt and that's never a good thing. tripping into a TV can cause some real damage.

I guess they can introduce a "Beat Mania" type of directional pad, where you can take steps back, forward and sideways, but this would probably be something not specific to Minecraft and instead a generic pad for any games that can support it.

I already played with the Oculus Rift. And I have to say, that it's not really that awesome. It's quite fun when you play "The Dropper" with the Oculus, but I don't think that you can make a virtual reality with Minecraft and this stuff.

That would make me so sick. I'd say it would be pretty easy to do with an Oculus Rift. I couldn't handle minecraft VR , it would be so scary (especially at night).
I'm sure it would be cool but I wouldn't play it.

I like the Virtual Reality devices. Minecraft is cool to play with it.
Virtual Reality + Shaders would be a dream.

It sounds cool. I would definitely try it out but I wouldn't buy it until I knew what the experience was like and how it worked.

This would be especially great with the Omni directional pad. That way you'll really get sucked into the game and increase the games immersion. If this is a thing and it isn't to expensive, I'd probably buy it just to see what its like playing around with virtual reality.

I think it would be very strange with basic Minecraft, given the small (8x8?) pixel counts of the cubes. Some people, including me, would be very confused to see huge blocks with huge pixels all over the place. This could be alleviated by using texture packs, but those only reduce this problem.
Also, how would you handle flying and running around at a high speed in creative mode, wouldn't you get motion sickness?

I think it could be really cool! The Occulus Rift has such incredible possibilities, and a version of Minecraft could be one of them. But I think you'd have to account for motion sickness and all that. Then again, if you get motion sick maybe you shouldn't be playing VR games.

Not just the Oculus Rift, imagine it paired up with a system like Virtuix Omni. VO is like a treadmill that you run on in order to move your ingame character. That mixed with the Oculus Rift could lead to an insane experience.

Can you imagine walking through a dungeon and hearing a zombie behind you! You'd run the opposite direction faster than the speed of light. Imagine the pure terror that would cause when you ACTUALLY have to physically run away from them.

    Intense would be an understatement.

I think Oculus isn't that great of a tool for gaming because from my friends who said that have used it it really screws up someone's eyesight. But in exchange you get that immersive feeling that you are in the game itself. I think Oculus may revolutionize the future of gaming which is pretty cool potential. But Oculus with minecraft? We are talking about a whole new story here my friend.
