Was Metro LL the last game in the franchise?

I'm just wondering that now Arytom's story has been concluded, will there be another Metro game?

I've not read any of the books so don't know if there is anything written which would suggest otherwise.

I am completely satisfied with just two metro games, but I sure wouldn't mind having another one. To answer your question, I don't know.

the only solution would be a different character.. maybe playing as miller or the full story of khan.. or make a MMO. who knows.

If they make another game. If it is based on the "bad" ending (Artyom dies) then they can follow the story of his son.

Since LL was based on the bad ending then it would make sense if a sequel was too. But I would really love it if any sequel was more open world. The linear "follow the leader" parts of Metro is a disservice to the beautiful World 4A have created.

I did hear that Dimitry would like to do a Metro based in cities like New York and London which also have a vast underground network. But the plot and story line would need to be different than communist and fascist factions.

I mean that I can remember someone writing on the forum that 4A has said themselves there will be no more Metro sequels in the upcoming years. I believe it was Komodo who said so.

I read somewhere that 4A games was going to make something else after Metro:LL because they were tired of making post-apocalyptic games. DeepSilver were "delighted" with the games sales so another Metro game will probably be made.

I remember seeing somewhere that 4A was tired of working on the Metro type of game, but it seems to have a pretty good following, so who knows.

I have no idea if there will be any other Metro game, but they sure as hell have plenty of source material for it. Plenty of books set in the Metro 2033 universe have been written. Metro 2033, Metro 2034, Piter, Towards the Light, Into the Darkness and Roots of the Heavens have all been translated into a number of European languages. There are more translations on the way, but the list gets much bigger if you add all of the novels from the series that are still only in Russian.

Although many of the stories told in these books may not be suitable for a smooth transition into video game format (Metro 2034, as we all have heard, for example), the places described within each of these novels can set the scene for different narratives in various places around the Metro 2033 world. Many of the Universe of Metro 2033 books describe not only post-apocalyptic Moscow, but also St. Petersburg. One of the novels is set in Britain, another takes place in Italy... the list of places described within the Metro 2033 universe just keeps growing.

The potential for many amazing games is right here, but the problem is the fact that it's unlikely that the industry would utilize it appropriately.

the risk with co-op would be that the immersion gets ruined since you nolonger feel as vulnerable as when your on your own.
