Ways to add more realism?

The game is already more real then 90% of shooters out there, but of course, I want more. These ideas can be used in dlc or in the next title in the metro universe. Let me know what you think, and add your own ideas.

    1. Fire selection on guns. I love this idea for added realism to gunplay. Most of the time, irl you will be firing semi auto not fully automatic. People tend to spray when firing fully auto like that, especially when under stress, this not only wastes ammo but your not likely to hit anything, especially at a distance. So an option to switch would be awesome, benefits would be reduced ammo usage and increased accuracy. This should be an option for pre war guns only though, so the bastard wouldn't have this option but thins like the kalash, vsv etc would.

Thats all ive got for now, im sure some people more creative then myself can add to this.

I think its pretty realistic already.

  4. Ammo count+1 boolit in the firearms that work like that.

Do not pull the charging handle when the round is already chambered during reload.

1 add a button to puull out yor mag and check ammo, same to check it in your bag.
2 overload of med kits would be cool.
3 fire modes are a must
    4 BETTER AI
    5 guns sometimes miss firing

I don't have any new ideas as of yet, but the stuff you guys posted sounds great. Especially the charging handle thing when reloading with an unspent mag.

Allowing us to check our inventory on Ranger Difficulty.

Maybe making it so that enemies in pitched firefights get wounded instead of instantly dropping dead. Walking through the aftermath and plugging the wounded enemies in the head as you walked along would be perfectly in-line with the dark, brutal nature of the games, at least in my opinion.

Inventory system should be weight based (kinda like Fallout) ... it's stupid when the game says.. derp you have 36 bullets you can't carry anymore..
You should be able to choose.. lets say if you wanna carry a shitload medkits.. or ammo or whatever.

Also it would be nice with a more in depth health system. Maybe different kinds of wounds and different kinds of treatments. Kinda like in DayZ when you break a leg you take morfine, if you have lost blood you use bloodbags and take painkillers, bandages etc.

I also think it would be cool with some kind of food/water system. So at the stations you not only have to stock up on ammo, weapons and filters - but also buy food/drinks etc. The food stands are already in the market anyway.. so let us use them :)

Just some ideas. They should be tweaked obviously. But I would love it.

and sleeping time to recover (if you go without sleeping for more than 30hrs in game, for example, you will get dizzy and eventually pass out) and loss of stamina. the more loaded you are, the slower you go, just like in Stalker.

This would probably only fit in a more Open World-esque game.

I would not mind to add another Ranger mode for ultra-realistic behavior. My first few ideas that could be in would be:
    1. Reloading weapon would mean that any left-over ammo in a magazine would be wasted
    2. Introduce manual magazine refill where Artyom would be able to put single cartridges into a magazine
    3. Prevent abusing gas mask by putting it on and off to save filter time.

More realistic mode should only be introduced when Ranger modes inconsistencies and illogical things are fixed. There is no point in implementing my first idea when player is not able to effectively check how much ammo is left in a magazine or in his backpack. Same goes for filter time, not being able to see total amount of time left is completely crazy. Missing these vital formation is going against player immersion and any sense of realism.

Imagine if stealth was broken when you reload right beside an enemy? So realistic, because it makes such a racket! :)

I don't think it's fair to make any assumption of the moral compass of the main character of a game that allows you to make various moral choices throughout. You can gun down entire camps of enemies if you so please, not sure what game you're playing.

I also don't think there's anything wrong with me (at least in this regard), Metro's critically acclaimed for being a dark game. Two bandits try raping a woman and instead end up discarding her after accidentally killing her. Half of the game is spent rummaging through piles of corpses for any scrap of spare supplies that you need to avoid joining them. Hell, bullets are currency.

I'm not saying it would be cheerful or pleasant, it would be realistic. I already see some youtubers finishing off enemies they've gunned down, I think it would add to the gritty realism is all. Silently taking out enemies would obviously not trigger it, and if you want to be a morally sound character then you'd have nothing to do with it.
