Some kind of homemade crossbow or something like that would be cool. And in might fire things you would find in a metro like metal stakes or nails...

 

Well you could have it to fire hellsing arrows and the weapon it self could be a predecessor.

 

Hellsing was a type of pneumatic cross bow.

Also a standard crossbow would be nice to get before you get the hellsing, and it could also fire some sort of grenade arrow which could be just a standard grenade tied to an arrow.

 

Hmm, I'd like more realistic weapons to be the main guns, though. I like the old, worn look they had in 2033, and they'd be better than "home-made" weapons, anyway. That's just me, though.

 

In what way is a normal crossbow not realistic
A simple crossbow would be far simpler then the Hellsing to make.

 

It'd also have a drastically slower rate of fire, to the point it would be useless for anything other than one-hit kills to single enemies (if we're being realistic). Honestly, you'd probably be better off with a bow and arrow if you want something simple and realistic; which I can't see happening.

..and a grenade tied to an arrow? CoD?

 

That is sort the point, a simpler gun to make stealth kills that fire slower then the Hellsing so it's less "overpowered".

And it with the grenade arrow, It was just an idea I had that may or may not have come from cod
It would stick to things but there the similarities end.
When you pull back the cord you could see the resilience, and when you have loaded an arrow you need to light it before firing otherwise it would not explode.

Also, you be better of with bow and arrow? since when can you run arround, ready to fire, with a bow?

 

You don't run around with a bow drawn, but you can draw and fire multiple arrows within the time it would take you to fire and reload one crossbow bolt.

That being said, I disagree that the Hellsing was any more overpowered than any other pneumatic weapon, especially at Ranger hardcore difficulty; they pretty much all kill in one hit and are silent. In fact, for most of the game the BB sniper rifle is superior simply because it is more accurate at range - therefore making shooting out lights easier.

 

I'm not saying that the Hellsing is overpowered, hence the ""
And the crossbow should't be a compeditor to the Hellsing or the BB gun, just a starting gun.

 

Sorry, wasn't a direct answer to your comment about a crossbow, just my own thoughts "I'd like more realistic weapons". But I think crossbows and bows and arrows wouldn't fit too smoothly into the game. They aren't used in warfare today for many reasons. Even assassins and hitmen usually use guns.

Hey, all cool. I seriously can't think of any more weapons. I think we've listed all the possible ones (apart from RPG's and chainsaws and swords!)

 

An RPG would fit in the metro lore since its russan but I don't think it would fit in whith the gameplay.

 

To be fair, the only reason I advocate the use of any kind of non-ballistic weapon is because 'silencers' are practically useless as a method of killing people quietly - here is an example of what silencers on guns actually do; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZU5TGljAmw - now think of how much louder that would conceivably be with .44 ammunition on the revolver.

While realism isn't necessarily all that important, it is annoying (to me) how you can make the revolver fire so quietly.

I would like multiple variatons of the same weapons example:

you can find an AK-74 with standard stock, side-folding stock, homemade stock, with or without duct tape and small fixes etc.

 

Speaking of bow and arrow. In a real-world apocalyptic situation bow and arrow would be an amazing weapon because its completely silent an arrows are usually retrievable.
You gonna mess with a guy with a bow and arrow? I think not. They have quad edged serrated arrows you can buy to hunt elk. I'm sure you could easily drop a human in one shot. If not kill then mortally wound him...

 

crossbow over bow.. Its easier to make crossbows out of scavenged parts such as springs fairly easily. i think there were examples of improvised crossbows made by the Vietcong from leaf springs taken from vehicles.. Also theyre easier to use one handed (once theyre loaded) and more importantly in the metro, they can be used in a confined space!

 

I think a improvised bow and arrow would be amazing! Its perfect as it doesn't take much to create one it will kill your target quietly and you can get your arrows back! Also you could get different types of arrows like ones with grenades on the end.
