Building a city in creative mode is fun. If I don't have anything better to do, I just try and build the most beautiful city in all of MineCraft. Here are some things that I have in my city:
    • A mansion/castle
    • A shop
    • A mine
    • A maze
    • A library
    • A ship
    • A church
    • A themepark
    • Some small houses
    • A town hall
    What's in your city?

I didn't build a city but a castle with high walls. In it, I put farms and chicken coops. I would sometimes have to venture out to get more materials but everything I needed was pretty much in there. I did see a city on my way out and it had everything you could imagine.

Giant roller coaster. :p Yeah it's not much of a city, just a few structures put around an intricate rail system.

I can never build statues of even block people. I always mess up somewhere along the line and just stop.

There are a handful of things I have to put into my cities. A jail, a park with a fountain, a large amount of houses, villagers, a farm, and a well. All of these things tend to come together nicely.

Having a music "shop" is quite enjoyable. Chests with music boxes and vinyl. Also, making lanterns and benches gives your town a cozy feeling.

    When I build a city, I always build a giant roller coaster, a fountain, a giant base/headquarters. I can't name one server where I didn't do that.

I like pitting lamps into my cities and towns because they look so nice. I usually make the out of fences and glowstone blocks. I also put bones, leaves and grass along with some other types of greenery into or onto my buildings so that they look nicer.

I always like to introduce quirky things to my city or town that most other people do not do. One of them being aqueducts, I love to have various pillars and platforms leading from the water sources (rivers, lakes, ponds, etc.) to the town's water supply. A sort of realism hits you when you realize that all of the farms and other various water related things in the city are actually being powered or supplied by a natural water resource.

Firstly, I want to say that create a city or whatever in the survival game, it's even more enjoyable, even if is, sometimes, difficult. Make a group in some server or create another one and start building, but not with creative; I'm sure that you will have more fun. You've to know too, that, build without creative will give better results because you will be more accurate and, even if it takes some more time, you will finally have an awesome city.
Changing the subject, my city will probably as a normal city like Barcelona, don't know.

I like using a lot of glass and building up. Provides cool views and helps you see what's going on around you. I also like to connect my city to the caverns underneath. Youtube is always a great place for Minecraft inspiration if you're looking for specific cool ideas.

All of this stuff sounds lovely and all but none of you have mentioned defensive! I put all the most general things, but then I hate Cannons to walls, fire pits, explosive mines that when stepped on explode. No city is safe these days.

    My town consists of:

    - town hall
    - blacksmith
    - library with enchanting table
    - market stalls (because we have quickshops)
    - alchemist
    - bakery
    - mill (wood blocks, saps, etc)
    - surrounding forest
    - farms, plots for homes and then watch towers
    - either a hill-top castle or a keep on the edge of the town
    - moat with large wall

I like building a little small community of houses! Also of course an awesome centerpiece to the city which is currently a large swimming pool.
