What are your methods of handling Skeletons?

I think that your best way to do that is to never confront them in the first place. They are really annoying, so just walk away like you don't even give a hoot. You could also equip yourself with your own bow if you really want to attack them yourself.

 

I think the best way to handle skeletons is to get a bow of your own and shoot until they are dead. Either that or create a fence around your home that they cant get through.

 

The problem is that sometimes, it isn't so easy to walk away when you are surrounded by a bunch of skeletons. It's hard to even run away because skeletons have such good aim.

 

I just simply use a bow and shoot back at them. But if I'm close enough, I usually just charge at them and swing as fast as I can with my sword. It's even better when I have an enchanted diamond sword! It feels so good to kill those buggers that poke you from a far range.

 

I fight them with bows and arrows and when I am well off enough I'll use my diamond swork to hack them into pieces!

 

Using a Bow usually and always have something to hide behind so you can avoid their stupid arrows they seem to shoot at you at a cheating rate. If you have full diamond armor though, I would say just rush them spartan style as it would take forever for them to kill you. I don't really worry about Skellies anymore.

 

Once I am equipped with full iron gear, I do not typically fear the Skeletons. Maybe if there's more than three, and you add a Witch or a Creeper to the mix, they can be a pain. I usually just run at them jumping, hoping to get a few fatal hits in, and that usually works for me.

 

Okay my method works out for me. I don't know about other people though. I like to dart side to side as I approach them. Continue that method as you fight them. Move back and fourth as well. You can dodge stronger arrows, and possible regenerate your bows if that's what you're using.

 

The moment I either hear them or get hit by one of their arrows, I make a barrier 2 block high around me made of dirt and dig out the bottom. I break some of the blocks around me and attack their feet. Since they can't see my face they can't shoot arrows and I just kill them. Easiest way to get rid of skeletons. I recommend anyone try this method and see if it works for you.

Since you mentioned the prospect of an encounter with a collosal number if skeletons thirsting for your blood, shooting at you at an insane pace resulting in lots of rage and sweat, let me till you a general strategy for facing mob crowds in general. Unless you are well equipped, I will definitely not recommend sprinting into the heat of battle, and instead hide behind a bend or wall and pick the mobs off one by one. As for a specific strategy for killing off skeletons, I like the strategy of "fighting fire with fire", which, in this case means using a bow and arrow, and give the skeleton as little chance to attack as possible, which is exactly what the skeleton does by repeatedly knocking you back so you can't melee it. So how to prevent the skeleton from attacking? There are some ways to do this, so I will now share a few.
Firstly, do not rush straight on towards the mob in a beeline, instead sprint and move in a zigzag pattern, aiming and shooting your bow in the intervals between the shots of the skeleton.
Second, you can place a block such that you can only see the legs of the skeleton (only applicable in certain situations) and then just kill it off with multiple hits from a sword.
Third, do use a two block wall that you can hide behind, come out and shoot, and hide again to load the bow so you can slowly (but surely) kill all the mobs.
Lastly, if you are planning to pick off the mobs one by one, I do not recommend pulling the bow to max power but half-power instead. Even though it wastes more arrows this way, the pertinent issue to note when combating skeletons is the rate of attack, since handicapping their ability to shoot at you is very beneficial.

If I can't just turn around and run away, then I feel like all you can do is run up to them and bash their brains in with a sword. Fighting back with a bow gives them the advantage because they can aim better than you.

 

Zig zag all the way to them. They can't touch me and I will kill them.

 

Using a bow and standing back makes it really easy, or just charging at them with a sword and jumping up and down while you attack them also makes killing them a whole lot easier.

 

I usually just run away but if I am surrounded by them I would just plant dirt blocks around me or in front of me very quickly as to shield me from their attacks.

 

If I have some cover than I usually try to hide there from their arrows and then pelt them with arrows of my own while quickly moving out of cover and then back.
If it's a tight quarters situation then there's nothing better that hitting them hard with a sword

 

I let them be most of the time, they are too annyoing to handle. If I really wanna kill them I usually get a bow.
