Back in 2004, WoW came out and drew in crowds numbering in the millions. This peaked to 11 million when WotLK came out. Former gamers of WoW, as well as gamers who haven't even played WoW has said the game is and was dying since 2008. However, it's clear that whatever the haters say, WoW is here to say for many more years.

The question is, what originally attracted you to WoW and when did you start playing?

The lore did it for me. I played all the Warcraft games up until WoW, and after I finished Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne expansion, I wanted to see more of my favorite characters, like Arthas or Illidan. However, for different reasons I did not start playing WoW until the Burning Crusade expansion.

Haha! Yeah, those commercials were really funny. I loved the one with Mr. T, when he gets all angry that he cannot be a Night Elf Mohawk and goes so far as to say that he will hack the servers and create a Mohawk class. Funny stuff!

I never played the Warcraft III so I didn't know much about the lore. The commercials though.... damn. After playing runescape, WoW looked absolutely crazy.

Honestly, Warcraft III. I was playing it, and got addicted to lore. I was reading it like crazy. And when I got access to World of Warcraft, I couldn't resist to try it.

I have started playing around 2007 with few of my buddies. As I remember how we were playing it, now it feels quite embarrasing but it was really fun and thats why I stayed. When I took the game more seriously, then the PvP mechanics made me find this game so interesting.

I was a blizzard fan, and a WC3 grinder. So it was only natural for me to jump the wow wagon.

Well I was fan of Blizzard ever since Warcraft for the PC. Then I started playing Starcraft on Battle.Net
World of Warcraft is a totally different dimension but obviously my previous experience was positive and I started playing WoW.

Believe it or not, I got attracted by the CGI trailers because they were awesome. They looked like scenes straight out of a high budget CGI movie that I thought I had to try the game out. I got hooked for a few years but stopped playing already.

I always wanted to go on WOW the minute I heard about it without seeing the commercials first. The commercial I really liked was the one with Verne Troyer and how his avatar was exactly like him. That was hilarious.

I was into that fantasy kind of stuff way before I even knew about World of Warcraft. I think it was Lord of the Rings that really got me hooked. So when I heard that there was a game with Orcs, Elves and Dwarves you can imagine my excitement.

I think it mainly had to do with a lot of my runescape and Counter strike friends going over to play WoW. I probably would not have ever played the game otherwise.

Three main reasons I played WOW aka World of Warcraft:

    1. I've played the Blizzard created games since the first Warcraft, and have been a fan ever since.
    2. A lot of my family and friends, enjoy playing the game and I enjoy spending hours upon hours playing with them.
    3. Interacting with people all around the world, and observing how they act in a simulated game, interests and stirs my curiosity of why humans do what they do.

A friend of mine recommended it to me since he was playing it a lot and therefore I decided to to try it and ever since I have been hooked to the Wow.

A friend of mine from an old text MUD had posted a link to her Facebook wall. This was when they had dropped the Battlechest price to $5, Cataclysm was $10 and Pandaland was $20. I decided to give it a shot and played for 18 months before quitting.

I had a friend who started playing it. Also I heard everyone talking about this when it came out. I had to try it and it was a great decision.

Honestly, PvE, and flying mounts. I also really really enjoy the lore more then any other game.

My ex boyfriend was playing it and it seemed really interesting.. He wanted me to get into it, so i gave it a try. It was a lot of fun but it seemed to get really repetitive after a little while.
