What book, movie, or TV show would you like to see an MMO for?

Personally, and if you want my most honest view about your question, MMOs should just remain MMOs, and not go further. We very well know what happens when someone decides to take things further and make copies of something in other forms of art. And that is, your aforementioned Harry Potter series. Books =/= movies, that's for sure.

 

I have to agree with rightct. I mean, look at what they've done with DBZ (not an MMO I know but you get the idea) and other sagas. Unless Blizzard, NCSoft etc lead the project themselves of course. Then I'd like to see Lineage II movies. They used to make theatricals for every new chronicle and I always wished the thing lasted 2 hours instead of 2 minutes.

 

Harry Potter would be really cool, Arrow or Flash as well. Both pretty great TV shows that deserve to have their own game!

 

The 100. A mixture of future sci-fi and post-apocalyptic, humans have to reclaim the earth after nuclear war nearly wiped all of us out (or so we think). What we find back down on the ground is ....different, then we imagined. It's like Fallout. It could be equated to a futuristic fallout.

End game could be reclaiming zones via PVP faction based. Mixture of that, and raids on the new horrible mutated creatures and things we fight. Reclaiming lost "old" tech (modern technology) for epic weapon quest chains. Plenty of good options.

 

I'd like to see Mission Impossible in a very good Max Payne meets Splinter Cell kind of game with a little Need for Speed mixed into it.

 

Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan. I wanna be like gambler Mat.

 

The problem is that the owners of the IP usually have too many requirements that can change the ability of the devs to make the best game possible. It really depends on that relationship.

The other part is the money. If you buy the rights to use and IP, than that is just like firing dozens of developers. Your game will have less content than a similar game created with a unique IP.

 

I would love to see a well produced and directed Elder Scrolls movie. If it would reach the level that the Lord of the Rings movies, have, then I think it would be a really heavy weight contender to the fantasy movie throne. I`m really curious what they will do with the World of Warcraft movie as well.

 

Marco Polo - The Old SilkRoad - Getting caught, smuggling goods across borders like the infamous silkworms, or simply being an honest trader - and befriending the Khans and Mongols of that time. It would be a nice change from all these western or medieval themed shows/games.

 

My vote is seriously for Harry Potter but with a little more darkness to it.

 

Ha, I really love a Harry Potter MMO. It would be cool that at some point if you got to decide to be a Death Eater or a member of The Order of the Phoenix.

The "Curse Workers" trilogy would make an interesting MMO. The "Heir" series would also make make an interesting MMO. I just really like the concept of magic in a modern day setting. The "Seven Realms" series would also be another interesting series to make into an MMO.

 

Harry Potter would be amazing if it has an MMO game. Game of thrones would be nice but that will be like Elder scrolls online. But I'm a fan of Harry Potter, so I really want an MMO of it.

 

I think it would be cool to have an MMO based on Blade Runner. I feel that there is not enough Cyberpunk games floating around with maybe the exception of Deus Ex. I recently watched the movie and all it did what set off my passion to play Cyberpunk games.

 

The Legend of the Seeker/Sword of Truth series would be an interesting setup for an MMO. The various factions and magical elements, minus all the asinine tropes and twists would make for an engaging game.

 

HP would be interesting but ultimately end up boring. 1 race (human).....and that's it. Also there's no expansion on the universe itself. As much as I love Rowling- she only focused on Britain and never went in depth with other wizarding communities around the world.

GoT has the same dilemma of basically 1 race monotony unless it's based on the timeline prior to the start of the series itself with the First Men, Andals and Old Valyria. Then I can see some potential in it.

 

I think Harry Potter could have potential to be really cool, or really, really lame. It would have to be pretty innovative as a game, seeing as the MMO market is already saturated with magic/fantasy-themed crap. Of course, there is the argument of "B-But it's Harry Potter!" Right, and without the story, the Harry Potter world is pretty bland, in my honest opinion. I'm not going to get into it, though.

I think that Marvel/DC Universe is a decent MMO, although I would like to see a superhero MMO that's done a little better. I think that a Naruto-themed MMO would be off the freaking hook.
