What did you think of the game?

I was quite disappointed with ESO at first. However, once I started experiencing the veteran content, I realized that the game was much better than I initially thought.

Am I alone in thinking this? What were your impressions?

The game had really good ideas, and the ability to immerse yourself in a Role playing style game online more than any other game had done before. With a large amount of money and a good company backing it. However the game fell short, and seems like the moment you hit max level, there is literally nothing to do but roleplay. They have a cool PVP aspect to the game, but even then... Once the initial amazement of it fell off. It just seems meh.

Archeage is doing a really good job with immersion and the ability to really just get out and "do whatever you want" feel. You can even be a trader and barter on the open seas. Or even become a pirate and prey on those very people xD. The game truly is awesome. Sure it has or had some problems, but with a dedicated game master team. They are working out the kinks and creating quite an awesome game.

I hated ESO in the beta. I Wanted to like it, I really really really wanted to like it but it was just not an Elder Scrolls game to me and it disappointed me heavily but with them going buy to play I have considered it but I won't get it until I find a deal for it at 5 or 10 bucks.

Or they do some sort of free trial and I come back to see what its like now.

The beta was bitterly disappointing for me, but I think that was because it wasn't finished. Then a ton of people began spreading hate about it and it sort of turned me off from it. But now I think ESO serves as a sort of "joke," which is actually quite unfair. The game has had a ton of updating and fixing to make it a pretty decent game! I think the problem is that people need to drop the idea of ESO as "Skyrim Online" and just accept it as its own entity.

Would it be cool to have a game like Skyrim, but online? Yes. It would. But ESO isn't that. I think if people accept that, then it'll make a big difference in the opinion of it. I recently bought it and I've been enjoying it, and I think more people should give it a shot.

The version originally released was a horrible, bugged mess, but I started it again a little bit before the B2P conversion and it is now a solid game. It still isn't really social, and it is hard to play together and keep grouped during many quests, but for a single-player experience, it is okay. The quests and the stories are fairly interesting.

Being an Elder Scrolls fan, I don't think the game is worth it for its price. I think the Digital Edition is still around $60, so it's definitely not worth it for me. Maybe if it was around ~$20-$30 with no membership fees then it might be a reasonable game, but because of the price it is out of a lot of people's range.

There are some good concepts within ESO, but I don't think it was executed properly, even now. I won't be returning to the game anytime soon. I gave it the best shot I could for an extended period of time.

It was ok, but the whole thing just felt like WOW but had and Elder Scrolls paint job. I did like the concept of adventuring with friends and fighting daedra together, but the bugs and lag just made it painful to play. I kinda wish they didn't make this game at all and just made more DLC for Skyrim or get to work on the next Elder Scrolls game.

When I first heard about it, I honestly expected Skyrim online. But then I realized it's supposed to be an MMORPG and that level of quality would be impossible.

This game has improved a lot in last one year. I recently went back to it and found it pretty smooth unlike the last year when it was constantly crashing.

Well, when I first played ESO for the first time, it wasn't that good. But with the recent updates this year, the game is more fun to play than the last time.

I didn't like it at first so I just gave up on it all-together but after a while I picked it up again and the gameplay had improved tremendously. It's really fun to play from time to time.

I liked the last three games, I really didn't like the first two. I get that they were working with some pretty old technology, but come on. I woke up in the dungeon, figured out how to move, and my character moved at near the speed of light.

No, you're not alone, I'm in the same boat too. Basically, I feel that this game grows on you. Not to bash on the game, but basically, once you have a more realistic understanding of how they designed the game, you start to like it more. What I'm saying is: don't walk into the game thinking that it's going to be Skyrim + MMORPG. Instead, it's Skryim elements and themes + MMORPG. If you have that mindset, you'll enjoy the game!

I think the game is decent at best. My problem with the game used to be with forced subscription and the combat. Thankfully the model was shed but the combat remains rather cumbersome still (like in most bethesda game). I really like the community so far they seems pretty friendly and exploring is pretty fun.

The game had loads of content which I loved, but I could never get hooked. I only played for a total of 20 some hours or so, which for me is low. And I didn't really have friends to play the game because no one wanted to play the with the subscription. So it was an okay experience I guess.

This is really opposite of the general consensus where most people think leveling and even some group content was fine, but the veteran system felt like an artificial grind added just to have something there. I personally think it is repetitive and boring, and so I focus on alts and other content.

Though I was a Beta tester, I didn't actually get into liking the game until over a year later. I got the game on a massive discount $12 and I have to say it's quite fun. There is effort involved. You can explore the nation, swim, jump, run, mount up, gather herbs, craft stuff and collectively attack things, etc. It's fun. However, even though the lore is rich and the lands beautiful, MMO games in general haven't wowed me since about five years ago. I think it's because I have played so many games in my lifetime that no new game will ever really give me the same feeling as World of Warcraft did when it first came out.

I totally agree. And the sad part is, according to internet rumors, Bethesda will be focusing on Fallout 4 and heavily on ESO before they will even start developing a new Elder Scrolls game.

I played it for a really few time at my friend's house just to be sure if I would buy it or not and eventually I decided to do not purchase it. The reason why is simple: too much grind and the game isn't fluent as expected.
